RECIPE OF THE WEEK : ILISHER TEL JHAL

Ingredients

Hilsa fish                        300 Gms

Turmeric powder          4 Gms

Cumin powder               7 Gms

Coriander powder         15 Gms

Chili powder                    10 Gms

Green chili                        5 gms

Pumpkin                           50 Gms

Brinjal                                40 gms

Salt                                      to taste

Mustard oil                            50 ml

 

METHOD:

  • Marinate the fish with salt and turmeric.
  • Cut pumpkin and brinjal in baton shape and fry it in mustard oil.
  • In the same oil shallow fry the Ilish
  • Heat oil in mustard in thick bottom pan, add black onion seeds and slit green chili
  • Add all the masalas and water, cook till the oil floats
  • Add fried pumpkin, brinjal and fish, cook it for 5 minutes
  • Check the seasoning and serve with steamed rice
