ASANSOL, 1 APRIL 2023:
Mr.Champai Soren, Minister-in-charge of Transport, Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste, Minority and Backward class welfare, Jharkhand Government and Mr. Pashupati Nath Singh, MP of Dhanbad, in presence of Smt. Aparna Sengupta, MLA jointly inaugurated the 826.5 m (approx) long Road Over Bridge (ROB) in lieu of existing two lane Road Under Bridge No.20 (RUB-20) at Km.232/16-18 Between Kumardubi and Mugma stations today (01.04.2023).
Mr. Permanand Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager, Asansol was also present during the occasion . Earlier, Mr. Permanand Sharma, Divisional Railway Manager, Asansol welcomed all the guests and informed that long standing demand of local people for want of ROB has been fulfilled. He also told that the ROB has been built up on 50:50 cost sharing basis by Ministry of Railways and the state government.
Speaking on the occasion Mr.Champai Soren, Minister of Jharkhand government said that this ROB will fulfil a long standing demand of the people of the adjoining area which has been built at a cost of Rupees 45 crore (approx). The local MP and MLA also spoke on the occasion.
The ROB constructed on Old G.T Road now classified as a Major District Road (MDR) in Jharkhand. Construction and commissioning of this ROB will facilitate smooth and congestion free movement for all types of road vehicles and users. Now, even higher dimension vehicles can ply over this route. Travel time will be subsequently reduced as vehicles would not be required to wait at this narrow and busy Road Under Bridge No.20. It will thus contribute towards economic development of Jharkhand in general and this area in particular.
From Railway point of view, inauguration of this Road Over Bridge will ensure safety of Railway track running over the existing RUB No.20, since movement of present-day bigger road vehicles through the existing narrow opening is resulting in damage to the arch due to hitting/grazing by the road vehicles. Sometimes over-dimensional vehicles also pass through this bridge again causing damage to the arch intrados. It will substantially enhance the safety of passenger & goods trains. Moreover, this will also save the running and maintenance cost of Existing RUB No.20.
