The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board (MPTB) is making a significant impact at the Bengal Travel Fest (BTF) 2025, held from February 7 to 9 at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra, Kolkata. The three-day event aims to revive tourism and provide seamless travel experiences for visitors. Organized by the Association of Tourism Service Providers of Bengal (ATSPB), BTF 2025 has brought together key players from the industry, and Madhya Pradesh is taking center stage with its diverse tourism offerings.
Madhya Pradesh has firmly established itself as a premier brand in the national and international tourism landscape. With a reputation for innovation and sustainable tourism practices, the state continues to earn praise from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. At BTF 2025, MPTB is highlighting the state as an “Offbeat Multispecialty Destination of First Choice,” promising unique travel experiences that blend heritage, adventure, wellness, and rural tourism.
Madhya Pradesh is revolutionizing travel with groundbreaking initiatives, including the launch of air taxis for faster and more efficient connectivity. The state is set to introduce India’s first inter-state cruise route, connecting Meghnath Ghat (Kukshi) and Sakarja in Madhya Pradesh with Hafeshwar and Mokhadi in Gujarat. This 120 km route promises breathtaking views and a thrilling adventure for travelers. A solar-powered cruise terminal is also being developed in Sakarja, ensuring seamless connectivity to major cities.
Mr. Sheo Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary Tourism, Culture and Religious Trusts & Endowments Department and Managing Director Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, emphasized the state’s commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism. He noted that Madhya Pradesh offers a diverse range of experiences, from wildlife safaris and adventure sports to rich cultural heritage and wellness tourism, inviting travelers to explore the state and be part of the new era of tourism.
Madhya Pradesh has achieved significant milestones in heritage conservation and is actively working to secure UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage status for Bhagoria dance, Gond painting, and the Narmada Parikrama. The state is also expanding its textile tourism initiatives in partnership with the Ministry of Textiles, allowing visitors to experience traditional weaving in Maheshwar, Unchehra, and Bherugarh. Ms. Bidisha Mukherjee, Additional Managing Director of MPTB, highlighted the state’s focus on adventure tourism, stating that from developing Ujjain as a skydiving destination to introducing hot air ballooning and paramotoring, Madhya Pradesh is catering to adventure enthusiasts. Additionally, air connectivity under PM Shri Paryatan Vayu Seva is being expanded with new routes in 2025.
A world-class convention center in Bhopal, with an investment of ₹100 crore near Minto Hall, is set to boost MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) tourism. Additionally, ₹100 crore has been allocated for sustainable tourism development in Orchha, ensuring the preservation of its historical legacy. Madhya Pradesh is home to 77,700 sq. km of forest, featuring 11 national parks, including Kanha, Bandhavgarh, and Pench, along with 24 wildlife sanctuaries. The state is also promoting wellness tourism with dedicated centers for yoga, meditation, Panchkarma, and spa treatments, catering to travelers seeking rejuvenation. Under the rural tourism initiative, 350 homestays will be operational by 2025, providing
authentic local experiences. Seven Responsible Souvenir Initiative centers are also being set up, while the Clean Destination project will be implemented in five villages in Bandhavgarh. Additionally, the Narmada tourism circuit is being developed across 40 villages with 17 new homestays, ensuring a sustainable and immersive experience for visitors.
Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board continues to focus on attracting domestic and international travelers by promoting new travel circuits across heritage, culture, adventure, wildlife, spirituality, and wellness tourism. The state is positioning itself as an experiential destination, offering homestays, gramstays, and farmstays that provide a deep cultural immersion. Madhya Pradesh is not just a land of stunning landscapes but also a hub of rich history and spirituality. It houses two Jyotirlingas—Omkareshwar and Mahakaleshwar—alongside Mughal architectural marvels in Burhanpur and Bhopal. The state is also home to magnificent sites like Gwalior and Mandu, along with picturesque water bodies such as Indrasagar, Gandhi Sagar, Tawa, and Bargi.
Cultural festivals, including the Khajuraho Dance Festival, Malwa Utsav, Tansen Festival, and Allauddin Music Festival, further showcase the state’s artistic vibrancy. Looking ahead, Madhya Pradesh Tourism will participate in major travel fairs and exhibitions in key cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Nagpur, Bengaluru, and Kolkata, strengthening its presence in prominent source markets. With its strategic approach, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is paving the way for an enriched and dynamic travel experience, positioning the state as a must-visit destination for every kind of traveler.
