A formal ceremony was held today at Lengpui Airport, the only airport of Mizoram, by transfer of security responsibilities to the CISF from Mizoram police (PESC and access control) and CRPF (Armed support and perimeter protection).
This makes Lengpui Airport the 69th airport under CISF security cover. Mr. Anil Shukla, IPS, DGP Mizoram was the Chief Guest during the event. Mr. Vijay Prakash, IPS, IG APS-1, and Mr. Deepak Verma, DIG (CISF) and Senior Officers from State police, CRPF, IB, Local Administration, AAI, Airlines and all other airport stakeholders were also present during the occasion.
Initially a 121 CISF personnel, led by Mr. Harish Nayal Deputy Commandant, took over security duties from Mizoram Police and CRPF.
During the event, CISF personnel showcased demo on reflex shooting, UAC, and weapon handling skills which was highly appreciated by the audience. The famous and iconic Bamboo dance of Mizoram was also presented by local artists during the occasion.
The deployment strengthens aviation security in the region, given the airport’s proximity to international borders with Myanmar and Bangladesh.
