In this ceremony, a total of 35 winners from last year’s competitions will be honored. In the “Mera Prakhand – Mera Gaurav” competition, the first, second, and third prizes will carry ₹50,000 with a certificate, ₹45,000 with a certificate, and ₹35,000 with a certificate, respectively. Additionally, 10 winners will receive a consolation award of ₹20,000 each in cash.
Meanwhile, in the “Bihar Through the Eyes of Influencers” competition, one winner will receive a special award of ₹50,000, and 18 others will be honored with appreciation prizes.
Tourism Director and Special Secretary, Mr. Udayan Mishra stated that the objective of these competitions was to identify lesser-known or unexplored sites across different blocks of the state that hold historical, religious, or cultural significance. By placing these sites on the tourism map, Bihar’s tourism potential can be further enriched. The competitions were organized to make the general public aware of the heritage and important sites in their regions and to encourage their preservation. Today, the winners will be honored by the Hon’ble Minister.
Selection Process of Winners:
Both competitions were conducted online last year. In the “Mera Prakhand – Mera Gaurav” competition, participants were required to identify such a site in their block that had remained unnoticed but could hold tourism potential. Entrants had to provide complete information about the chosen tourism site in their submission.
The entries received block-wise in each district were examined at the district level by a jury constituted under the District Magistrate. The jury included officials of the Additional Collector rank, Tourism Officers, District Public Relations Officers, and the respective Circle Officers/Block Development Officers. After the initial selection, the entries were forwarded to the Tourism Department, where a jury of subject experts finalized the winners’ list.
For both Jury Awards and People’s Choice Awards, three winners each were selected for the first, second, and third prizes carrying ₹50,000 with a certificate, ₹45,000 with a certificate, and ₹35,000 with a certificate, respectively. In the competition, lesser-known tourist destinations of Bihar were identified by the jury, while the general public selected their favorite site as the winner of the People’s Choice Award.
Additionally, 10 participants will receive consolation prizes of ₹20,000 each, and other shortlisted participants will also be awarded cash prizes and certificates.
