Association for Conservation & Tourism  (ACT) has supported Cross-Border Tourism through festivals from their inception. Yesterday, we began with the Pachu Harvest Festival, 06 kms from Phuentsholing in Bhutan. Also, today we have started with the Harvest Festival at Dhankuta in Nepal.

“Today, we have launched the Cherry Blossom Festival as Payutour for Temi-Namthing constituency in South Sikkim, dated 9th to 11th November, 2025. Cherry, locally known as Payu tree is the indicator of rice harvesting with Cherry Blossom flowering, which remains for 15 to 20 days,” said Mr. Raj Basu, founder of Association of Conservation and Tourism and rural tourism and heritage conservation expert.

3 new villages will be introduced for Rural Tourism in Sikkim, two of them being tribal villages, Gangchung and Ben. A new trek to Tendu Hill, 9500 feet will be introduced.

Chalamthang remains as the model rural tourism village for Sikkim.

Astro tourism for night sky watching will be launched for the first time in Sikkim through this Festival. Bedusingh Panth local MLA has taken the initiative, rural tourism & Homestay being led by Amrit Sharma, Prashant Lamichaney for Astro tourism, and coordinating the media is Tannistha Rakshit.

The local media of Siliguri, along with rest of West Bengal were formally invited to the festival.
