The Tourism Department is continuously working to enhance tourism facilities in the state. As part of this effort, Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) is soon launching Caravan buses equipped with state-of-the-art amenities for travel to Bihar’s major tourist destinations. These buses are essentially “mobile star hotels,” designed to provide hotel-like comfort during travel—including facilities for staying, sleeping, watching TV, music, cooking, and more.
These are not ordinary buses; they are modern luxury vehicles designed like a mobile hotel, offering complete comfort and entertainment for tourists throughout their journey.
Modern Amenities of the Caravan Bus: A Star-Hotel Experience
BSTDC has currently purchased two caravan buses, which have already reached Patna. Once formal procedures are completed, the buses will be available for booking. These buses will transform travel experiences into luxurious journeys.
The interior design of the buses resembles that of a star hotel. The buses include:
- Comfortable seating for 7 passengers
- 4 sleeper berths
- 5 LED televisions
- A mini kitchen
- A bathroom
With these facilities, tourists will not need hotels or restaurants during travel. With the Caravan, travelers can plan their journey as they wish, stop wherever they want, and enjoy a personalized travel experience.
Benefits for Tourism and Economy:
These buses will be part of special tour packages, such as:
- Bodh Gaya–Nalanda one-day trip
- Valmiki Nagar Tiger Reserve Safari
Tourists will be able to book the buses through BSTDC’s official website (bstdc.bihar.gov.in) or via mobile numbers. The service is expected to boost both domestic and international tourism.
Pricing details:
- ₹75 per kilometer (minimum 250 km)
- Approximately ₹20,000 per day for full-day booking, with per-km rates applicable for longer distances
- For Patna city, a 12-hour / 75-km package is available for ₹11,000
This initiative will not only improve tourist convenience but also generate annual revenue in crores. Each bus will create 50–60 direct jobs (drivers, guides, chefs, staff etc.), resulting in over 100 jobs from the two buses combined.
