“Spoke today at the UN Tourism Minister’s Summit at ITB Berlin 2026, sharing India’s vision for building destinations that are globally competitive, sustainable and community centric. Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India’s tourism roadmap under Vision 2047 is anchored in one guiding principle, Growth with Responsibility. Over the past decade, we have pursued a balanced approach by enabling world class infrastructure while safeguarding our rich heritage and fragile ecosystems,” said union tourism minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

“ Operational airports have expanded from 74 to over 160, unlocking access to remote and emerging destinations. Through the UDAN scheme, regional air connectivity has been democratised. Modern rail services such as Vande Bharat are strengthening integrated tourism circuits across the country. Strategic investments through Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD are developing thematic, heritage and spiritual destinations with climate resilient infrastructure designed to benefit local communities as much as visitors. At the same time, we are leveraging data analytics and Artificial Intelligence to build intelligent destination management systems by monitoring visitor flows, promoting lesser known sites and reducing pressure on high density areas,” Shri Gajendra Singh Shejhawat said.

“Tourism for us is not merely about arrivals, it is about livelihoods, sustainability and civilisational exchange. India stands ready to work with the global community to ensure tourism remains a force for resilience, inclusion and shared prosperity,” the union tourism minister concluded.
