There has been a significant increase in the price of aviation turbine fuel, driven by evolving geopolitical developments in the Middle East. As fuel represents a significant portion of airline operating costs, this impacts the cost of operations across the aviation industry. Given this impact, Akasa Air will introduce a fuel surcharge ranging from INR 199 to INR 1300 on our domestic and international routes, for all bookings that are made with effect from 00:01 hrs on March 15, 2026.

This will not be applicable for any bookings made prior to 00:01 hrs on March 15, 2026. “The fuel surcharge will be applied per sector and will vary based on the duration of the flight. At Akasa Air, we remain focused on offering warm and efficient customer service, reliable operations, and affordable fares while maintaining the highest standards of operational efficiency. We will continue to closely monitor the operating environment and review the fuel surcharge periodically,” the company’s official spokesperson said.

“Following our latest safety assessment and a review of the evolving situation in the Middle East, Akasa Air will operate select flights to/from Jeddah and Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kochi, and Kozhikode. This enables passengers to plan their travel in advance.

The operation of these flights is based on the prevailing situation and our ongoing safety assessment and may be subject to change. Flights to/from Riyadh remain suspended until March 17, 2026 and to/from Abu Dhabi, Doha and Kuwait remain suspended until March 19, 2026. Akasa Air has extended its cancellation/rescheduling charges waiver policy for passengers booked to or from these cities until March 31, 2026. Passengers may opt for a full refund, credited to the original source of payment within 7 days, or reschedule their travel at no additional cost. If your booking was made through a travel partner, please check directly with them for assistance. We continue to monitor and assess the situation with respect to these destinations on a real-time basis, and changes, if any, to the flight status for such destinations will be notified accordingly,” the company further added.
