Akasa Air, India’s fastest growing airline, today announced the establishment of its entity, Akasa Air Leasing IFSC Private Limited (AALI), at Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City), Gandhinagar. This marks a strategicmilestone in strengthening the airline’s aircraft financing and leasing capabilities.
The AALI office at GIFT City will serve as a dedicated platform to support Akasa Air’s fleet expansion and long-term growth plans. It will play a pivotal role in advancing the airline’s aircraft financing strategy, enabling greater flexibility, cost efficiency,and enhanced access to global capital markets.
Aligned with the Government of India’s vision to create a world-class ecosystem for aircraft leasing and financing through GIFT City, AALI, upon commencement of operations, will provide aircraft leasing and financing solutions to Akasa Air. Leveraging the benefitsof the GIFT City framework, AALI is expected to finance a majority of the airline’s aircraft over time while strengthening onshore leasing capabilities.

With a clear focus on sustained, long-term growth, Akasa Air has placed a firm order of 226 Boeing 737 MAX airplanes, powered by CFM fuel-efficient LEAP-1B engines. It currently operates 38 737 MAX aircraft, which deliver superior efficiency in reducing fueluse and carbon emissions. The aircraft also has a quieter cabin with 40 per cent less noise, fulfilling the airline’s promise of being an environmentally progressive company with the youngest and greenest fleet in the Indian skies.
