In a major push to redefine passenger comfort through modern innovation and strategic public-private partnerships, the Howrah Division of Eastern Railway has rolled out a unique initiative: “Vande Express,” a family-focused “phygital” magazine designed exclusively for travelers on the Howrah–New Jalpaiguri Vande Bharat Express. Conceptualized and created by ANOTHER INDIA, this premium magazine is being distributed entirely free of cost to passengers, bringing a brand-new reading experience to the tracks with zero financial burden on Indian Railways. This milestone project has been successfully launched under the dynamic leadership of Shri Milind Deouskar, General Manager of Eastern Railway, whose forward-thinking vision continues to drive student-centric and passenger-first innovations across the zone.

The magazine was formally launched yesterday by Dr. Uday Shankar Jha, Principal Chief Commercial Manager, Eastern Railway, Shri Vishal Kapoor, Divisional Railway Manager, Howrah Division, and other senior railway officials.

Aimed at making train journeys far more engaging, “Vande Express” seamlessly bridges traditional print with smart, QR-code-driven digital features. Passengers can scan their way into a rich mix of travel guides, tourism spotlights, regional heritage stories, lifestyle pieces, and fun interactive games for children. Beyond entertainment, the magazine serves as a handy guide to Indian Railways’ latest passenger utilities and mega-projects, highlighting the RailOne App, Rail Madad assistance, the ambitious Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, the upcoming Vande Bharat Sleeper trains, and the vibrant cultural tapestry of Eastern India.

Executed under the Non-Fare Revenue (NFR) model, this project stands as a prime example of generating value-added services through private sector collaboration without costing the railway administration a single rupee. It pulls double duty by making the journey highly entertaining while keeping passengers effortlessly informed about crucial railway updates and safety awareness.

The smooth rollout of this tech-enabled publication highlights ANOTHER INDIA’s innovative craftsmanship. By blending tactile print with immersive digital media, they have created an engaging experience that is both highly interactive for readers and commercially self-sustaining.

The debut of “Vande Express” marks a bold step forward in creating an informed, entertaining, and digitally connected ecosystem for modern travelers. Commenting on the launch, Shri Shibram Majhi, Chief Public Relations Officer of Eastern Railway, stated: “Our focus is always on upgrading the passenger experience by blending technology with comfort. ‘Vande Express’ is not just a magazine; it is an interactive travel companion that keeps our passengers connected to the rich heritage of Eastern India and the evolving digital landscape of Indian Railways.”
