KOLKATA | 16 JULY 2026
The decision, passed on July 14, 2026, will take effect once officially published in the Royal Gazette. This policy update locks in extended entry privileges for Indian travelers. It completely bypasses a previously feared rollback to the standard 15-day Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) system, saving tourists from high fees and extensive paperwork.
“Indian travelers who travel before the announcement in the Royal Gazette will still be granted a 𝟔𝟎-𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲,” confirmed Tourism Authoritry of Thailand (TAT) New Delhi office .
All the major travel trade associations of the country – Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI), Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), Skal International India, Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Outbound Tour Operators Association of India (OTOAI) etc have welcomed the latest move of the Thailand cabinet.
Rising Influx of Indian Tourists:
India remains one of Thailand’s top three international source markets, driven by enhanced flight connectivity and seamless entry rules.
- 2025 Growth: Thailand welcomed 2.49 million Indian visitors, marking a 16.8% increase compared to 2024.
- 2026 Momentum: Over 1.3 million Indian tourists arrived in the first half of 2026 alone, building on a strong start that saw 250,000 arrivals by early February.]
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) targets over 2.55 million Indian visitors in 2026. This surge aims to generate approximately 97.86 billion baht in revenue. The goal leverages a successful 2025 campaign where India became a top growth market. These travelers heavily backed Thailand’s wellness-focused “healing is the new luxury” initiative.

TAT’s New 2026 Strategy: Value Over Volume:
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is shifting away from mass tourism to focus heavily on high-value, sustainable travel. Under the global “Feel All the Feelings” campaign—headlined by Amazing Thailand Ambassador Lisa—the country is promoting cultural and eco-conscious hubs.
- Eco-Models & Conservation: Chiang Mai is being positioned as a northern eco-model, while the Krabi coast highlights marine conservation and low-impact ecotourism.
- Cultural Focus: Secondary destinations like Nakhon Phanom and Ubon Ratchathani are getting major promotional backing.
Shift to High-Octane Adventure:
Rather than traditional sightseeing and standard trekking, TAT’s 2026 itinerary focuses on localized, experience-led adventure sports that blend physical wellness with high-adrenaline activities. Travelers are being encouraged to explore secondary provinces through niche segments, including:
- Trail running through rugged terrains.
- Cliffside via ferratas for extreme climbing experiences.
- Remote deep-water cave diving in untapped areas
Other key promotional avenues for TAT in 2026 include participating in various national and international travel trade fairs and road shows in key Indian cities like New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai etc. A mazing Thailand awarded as the BEST DESTINATION SHOWCASE at recently concluded TTF Kolkata 2026, Eastern India’s biggest travel and trade fair.
