Ms. Gitika Pandey joined as new General Manager of Eastern Railway on 01.08.2026. Before joining as General Manager of Eastern Railway, Ms. Gitika Pandey was working as Additional Member (Planning), Railway Board.
Ms. Gitika Pandey, a Gold Medallist, M.A. in English Literature has joined Indian Railways Accounting Service (IRAS) in 1990. Since joining the Indian Railways, she had worked in various key posts like Additional General Manager/Finance/DFCCIL (Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited), Principal Financial Adviser/CORE (Central Organisation for Railway Electrification), Deputy General Manager (General)/ North Western Railway, Divisional Railway Manager/Jodhpur Division of North Western Railway, and also as Principal Financial Adviser/ North Western Railway.
Ms. Pandey has also undergone various national and international level training programmes and successfully completed course on International Financial Reporting Standards, Training Programme at INSEAD (European Institute of Business Administration)/Singapore, ICCI/Malaysia and Management Training programme at NAIR (National Academy of Indian Railways)/Baroda.
In her vibrant career, Ms. Gitika Pandey has made sustained and outcome-oriented contributions across operations, infrastructure development, contracting systems, digital transformation and financial innovation, with a consistent emphasis on measurable results, institutional learning and improved service delivery to passengers and freight customers.
Ms. Pandey’s career is defined by transformative field execution and fiscal stewardship. As Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) in Jodhpur, her data-driven decision-making and focus on teamwork propelled goods earnings to ₹177.16 crore, exceeding targets by 161 percent during challenging COVID crisis. Amid an acute oxygen shortage during COVID-19 wave, Jodhpur Division established the first oxygen generation plant at the Divisional Railway Hospital in record time, ensuring reliable medical support. Her commitment to infrastructure was evident as Principal Financial Adviser/CORE, where she helped finalize 16 electrification projects covering 3,106.91 RKM.
During her period as Principal Financial Adviser in North Western Railway, she has contributed as a core team member in high value CAPEX proposals, complex audit matters and system reforms. During working in Railway Board, she has led the financial strategy making and planning for Indian Railways, oversee budgeting & financial forecasting, and contributed towards policy development for this largest public sector organisation of India.
Apart from excelling in performance as an apex level Railway Officer, Ms. Gitika Pandey, General Manager, Eastern Railway has made immense contribution as a social activist and extending continuous support for the people in need or in distress.
Ms. Gitika Pandey is an Honorary Member of Society for Integrated Development Activities Research and Training. Being a motivational speaker, she has also conducted motivational sessions for students, focusing on personal development, goal setting, and overcoming challenges.
