IntrCity SmartBus, a tech-enabled intercity mobility platform, is expanding its physical infrastructure to bring greater structure, predictability and convenience to intercity travel. The company currently operates three Mobility Hubs in Anand Vihar, Delhi; Katra, Jammu; and Sangamwadi, Maharashtra, alongside three Fresh N Up Lounges in Tirupati, Katra and Ujjain. These facilities complement its existing network of 25+ SmartBus Lounges and 100+ boarding partners, which together serve nearly 50% of its customers.
The expansion reflects IntrCity’s focus on strengthening the physical layer of intercity travel, alongside its technology and operations infrastructure. While digital platforms have made booking and payments more seamless, the on-ground experience around boarding, waiting and passenger amenities remains fragmented across much of the intercity bus ecosystem.
The Mobility Hubs are designed as larger, integrated intercity boarding facilities that bring passenger waiting areas and bus bays together at a single organised location. Each hub can accommodate 100+ passengers at a time and enable multiple buses to arrive, board passengers and depart from the same location. By moving boarding away from roadside pickup points, the hubs are designed to reduce location confusion, minimise dwell time and pickup-related delays, and improve departure predictability. Centralised boarding also enables closer coordination between passengers, Bus Captains and ground teams.
The hubs currently offer air-conditioned waiting areas, toilets, internet connectivity, charging points and beverages, along with dedicated resting areas for drivers and Bus Captains. IntrCity is also evaluating the integration of OEM-supported service centres at select hubs to strengthen fleet readiness and technical support.

By bringing boarding and bus operations into a more structured environment, we can improve predictability for passengers while supporting operational efficiency and crew wellbeing. We brought a certain order to the bus journey, and we are now reimagining the boarding experience.”
IntrCity plans to expand its Mobility Hub network across key intercity travel markets including Chennai, Hyderabad and Lucknow, as well as emerging markets such as Trichy and Rajahmundry. The expansion will be guided by passenger demand, route density and the operational requirements of individual travel corridors.
Alongside its Mobility Hubs, IntrCity has introduced three Fresh N Up Lounges in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh; Katra, Jammu; and Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. The facilities are designed specifically for passengers travelling on pilgrimage routes and offer cloak rooms, shower and changing facilities, and beverages, enabling travellers to freshen up before darshan without having to book a hotel room.
The Fresh N Up Lounge format addresses a specific requirement of pilgrimage travel, where passengers may have limited time between arrival, darshan and their return journey. By providing essential facilities at or around key travel points, the format is intended to make same-day pilgrimage itineraries more practical and convenient. IntrCity will evaluate opportunities to extend the format to other pilgrimage destinations and routes based on passenger demand.
The infrastructure expansion builds on IntrCity’s broader effort to bring greater standardisation to the intercity bus journey. Its 25+ SmartBus Lounges and 100+ boarding partners provide customers with designated and sheltered boarding points, while Mobility Hubs bring together waiting and boarding infrastructure at a single location. Together, these touchpoints are designed to create a more consistent experience across different stages of the journey.
