Moustache Group of Hotels has launched Luxuria Gokarna by Moustache, marking the premium vertical’s entry into southern India and expanding the group’s presence along the western coast. Located on a small hill near Om Beachin Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district, the new property has been designed as a coastal retreat with uninterrupted views of the Arabian Sea and the green valleys around it. The launch also takes Luxuria into a market that has steadily grown from a backpacker and pilgrimage stop into one of Karnataka’s better-known coastal destinations
Gokarna has a character that sets it apart from the usual beach circuit. The town is home to the Mahabaleshwar Temple and the revered Atmalinga, while its coastline runs through Gokarna Main, Kudle, Om, Half Moon and Paradise beaches. The state tourism department describes the destination as a quieter, more relaxed alternative to Goa, with beach treks, yoga, water activities and temple visits often forming part of the same trip.

Gokarna also works well as a short coastal getaway, with a typical stay of two to three nights. Its location gives it a natural pull from Karnataka and Goa, while travellers from Mumbai, Pune, Tamil Nadu, Hubballi-Dharwad, Belagavi and Mangaluru can also reachthe destination comfortably by road or rail. That makes it well placed for weekend and long-weekend travel, especially for people looking for a quieter coastal break with easy access to beaches, temples and the surrounding landscape.
The property has been planned around its elevated location and open views. It features 14 rooms facing the central swimming pool, with views extending towards the sea and surrounding green valley, along with four cottages with private plunge pools and four cottages with bathtubs. Two large Presidential Suites occupy the upper floors and offer views on multiple sides. The property also includes an in-house restaurant, parking and a small garden, with Om Beach, one of Gokarna’s most recognised stretches of coastline, located nearby.
Abhishek Khandelwal, Co-Founder and Director, Moustache Group of Hotels, said, “Gokarna gives us a very strong combination of beach, culture and leisure travel, and it has a pace that fits naturally with Luxuria. The property itself sits above the surrounding landscape, so the sea and valley views become a big part of the stay. For us, this is also an important step in taking Luxuria further south and building a stronger presence in destinations where travellers are increasingly looking for quieter, more experience-led holidays.”
The launch comes just ahead of Gokarna’s main travel season, with October to February typically seeing the strongest visitor demand, helped by clearer skies, calmer seas and weather that is better suited to beaches, coastal trails and outdoor activities.
With Gokarna, Moustache adds a new geography to Luxuria and a distinctly coastal stay to a portfolio that has so far been stronger across Rajasthan, Uttarakhand and other northern leisure markets. The launch takes Luxuria by Moustache to 11 operating properties and the group’s overall portfolio to 38 properties across Hostels, Select and Luxuria.
