Giving a fillip to the Caravan Tourism initiative in the state,Kerala Government has included camper vans within the ambit of its Caravan Tourism project ‘Keravan Kerala’ and decided to provide them with the subsidy and other financial and institutional incentives available for the segment.
The State Tourism Department had recommended inclusion of camper vans within the caravan tourism project, holding that it would impart further momentum to the growth of the tourism sector and boost the local economy.
“This decision will open up a lot of opportunities for camper van operators and local entrepreneurs connected to the tourism sector across the state”, Tourism Minister Mr. P A Mohamed Riyas said. Camper vans will provide an affordable and comfortable travel mode for small groups of tourists, especially families, the Minister added.
The Caravan Tourism project was conceived as a key component in the riveting mix of experiences that Kerala offers to tourists. The Keravan Kerala project was launched with generous incentives and supports for caravan operators as well as park facilitators.
