The Government of Rajasthan formally released the State’s ambitious Rajasthan Tourism Policy–2025 on Wednesday, coinciding with the occasion of Pravasi Diwas. Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma unveiled the policy during the tourism session organised at the JECC campus, Sitapura. Deputy Chief Minister Ms. Diya Kumari, senior government officials, members of the Pravasi Rajasthani community, and key stakeholders from the tourism sector were present.

Chief Minister Shri Bhajanlal Sharma described the policy as “a visionary document that will give a new direction to Rajasthan’s tourism growth” and emphasised its role in positioning the State prominently on the national as well as global tourism map. He stated that the new policy will catalyse investment, innovation, employment opportunities, and community participation.

The Chief Minister called upon all departments and stakeholders to extend active cooperation in ensuring the successful implementation of the policy. He announced that a dedicated Policy Implementation Unit will be established to ensure timely action on all provisions outlined in the tourism policy.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Chief Minister Ms. Diya Kumari said that the objective of the Rajasthan Tourism Policy–2025 is to position Rajasthan as a globally competitive, safe and tourist–friendly destination in the coming years. She stated, “Connecting Rajasthan’s culture, heritage, art and natural diversity with the requirements of the new era and delivering world-class experiences is our top priority. This policy will give new momentum and direction to tourism development.”

She reaffirmed that the new policy reflects the Government’s commitment to transforming Rajasthan into the most robust, modern and attractive tourism State in India. She added that the Government aims to ensure that every visitor returns enriched with the State’s culture, hospitality and diverse experiences.

The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted that the policy provides a comprehensive roadmap for new and emerging segments such as astro-tourism, adventure and wellness tourism, digital accessibility and religious-cultural circuits. The policy sets clear targets to modernise, secure, and make tourism infrastructure investment-friendly and technologically advanced. She said, “This policy is not just a document—it is our roadmap to transforming Rajasthan into a global tourism powerhouse.”

Key Features of the Policy

Investment Promotion and Ease of Doing Business

Tourism projects will be accelerated through PPP models with a strong focus on ease of doing business. A single online portal will streamline all permissions. An integrated digital platform will be developed for grading tourism businesses and activity monitoring. Annual Rajasthan Tourism Awards will be introduced to promote excellence. Scholarships for students pursuing tourism courses and skill programmes will be provided, along with training and skill incentives for tourism enterprises.

Special Tourism Zones & Religious Circuits:

Select districts will have Special Tourism Zones (STZs) on a plug-and-play model, with infrastructure developed jointly by the government and private sector. Facilities along Krishna Gaman Path and Braj–Dwarka pilgrimage routes will be upgraded. Religious and wildlife-based tourism hubs will be developed in collaboration with the Forest and Devasthan Departments.

Digital & Experience-Based Tourism:

3D laser scanning of monuments, VR experiences, digital museums, and light-and-sound shows will be developed. New tourism films, influencer partnerships and digital campaigns will be prioritised.A new Rajasthan Tourism Portal, mobile app, chatbot, digital maps and guidebooks will be launched for enhanced visitor experience.

Strengthening District-Level Management:

Each district will have a District Tourism Development Committee (DTDC) chaired by the Collector, functioning as a Destination Management Organisation (DMO).Regular meetings during peak seasons will ensure swift resolution of issues.

Tourist Amenities & Connectivity:

Introduction of Hop-on Hop-off bus services in major cities. Prepaid taxi booths at airports, railway stations and bus stands.E-segways, rental cycles and guided e-vehicle services will be introduced. A unified Rajasthan Travel Card will provide integrated transport access for tourists.

Promotion of Theme-Based Tourism:

Focus on astro tourism, food festivals, adventure sports, eco-tourism, film city development, multi-purpose event stadiums, bird-watching circuits, and valour tourism circuits. Flagship festivals such as Pushkar Fair, Desert Festival, and Lake Festivals will be expanded further.

Heritage, Craft & Wellness Tourism:

Establishment of craft museums showcasing manuscripts, fossils, tribal culture, textiles and traditional crafts. Development of wellness tourism hubs centred on yoga, Ayurveda and naturopathy.

24×7 Tourist Safety & Assistance:

A dedicated 24×7 Tourism Call Centre, strengthened Tourist Assistance Force, panic buttons in tourist vehicles, QR-based feedback systems, CCTV surveillance and IEC initiatives will enhance tourist safety.

Dignitaries present on the occasion included Shri Joraram Kumawat, Minister (Animal Husbandry, Dairy, Gopalan & Devasthan); Shri Jhabar Singh Kharra, Minister of State (Urban Development & Local Self Government); Shri Praveen Gupta, Additional Chief Secretary (Tourism); Ms. Mugdha Sinha, MD (ITDC); Ms. Rukmani Riar, Commissioner (Tourism), Additional Director Tourism (Investment) along with several tourism entrepreneurs, experts and representatives of diaspora communities from India and abroad.
