IndiGoReach, the CSR arm of IndiGo and InterGlobe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of InterGlobe Enterprises, jointly hosted a captivating ‘My City My Heritage’ walk in Ahmedabad. Titled “Tracing Stories Through the Lanes of Old Ahmedabad”, the walk offered participants an immersive journey into the vibrant past and living heritage of the city, highlighting its historical and cultural significance.

The three-hour walk traced a thoughtfully curated route, beginning at the iconic Ahmed Shah Mosque and concluding at Manek Chowk. The trail led the participants through the narrow streets, bustling squares, traditional pols, and historic homes, offering a firsthand experience of Ahmedabad’s layered architectural and cultural landscape. The walk led by heritage expert Khushi Shah brought the city’s stories to life and drew enthusiastic participation from the local community, government officials, and senior leadership of InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGo.

‘My City My Heritage’ is an ongoing campaign, launched by InterGlobe Foundation, in collaboration with Sahapedia, dedicated to raising awareness about India’s diverse cultural and historical legacy. Through engaging conversations and meaningful partnerships, the initiative aims to preserve and promote both the tangible and intangible heritage, encouraging citizens to rediscover, connect with, and take pride in the stories that shape their communities. As part of the campaign, IndiGoReach and InterGlobe Foundation have previously conducted successful heritage walks across eight cities—Prayagraj, Bhubaneswar, Shillong, Nashik, Hyderabad, Kozhikode, Lucknow, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, each offering a unique, immersive experience. These walks not only celebrate the distinct cultural fabric of each region but also foster a deeper sense of belonging and appreciation for India’s diverse heritage.

Speaking on the occasion, Rohini Bhatia, Chairperson, InterGlobe Foundation, said, “Our ‘My City My Heritage’ walk in Ahmedabad provided a unique opportunity for participants to connect with the city’s soul, appreciate its layered past, and engage with the vibrant communities that continue to bring its history to life. Through fostering community participation and highlighting Ahmedabad’s unique marvels, our aim is to cultivate a deeper appreciation for its cultural heritage and promote tourism that directly benefited the local economy.”

Both InterGlobe Foundation and IndiGoReach have undertaken various projects to promote heritage conservation and preservation in India. Some of the major initiatives of InterGlobe Foundation include the conservation and cultural revival of Abdur Rahim Khan-I-Khanan’smausoleum in Delhi, the cultural mapping and documentation of ten cities, the restoration of ‘Indra Kund’ stepwell in Delwara, the tile restoration of Qutb Shah’s Mausoleum, and Heritage Fellowships.
