Low cost airlines, Thai Lion air is all set to connect India’s capital city of New Delhi with its Boeing 737-800 aircrafts to Thailand’s capital city of Bangkok from October this year.
Presently Thai Lion air operates thirty four flights from Indian cities to Bangkok with its 187 seater aircrafts.
Thai Lion air connects the Indian cities of Kolkata, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Ahmedabad with Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) in Bangkok at present.
Don Mueang International Airport (DMK), Bangkok serves as a secondary hub for low-cost flights, both domestic and international destinations. The airport consists of Terminal 1 for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic flights.
On 5 August 2025, Thai Lion Air had participated in the Roadshow of Amazing Thailand in Kolkata at ITC Sonar through its representatives, Ms. Niharika Bhatia, Manager, India ( Sales & distribution) and Mr. Azharuddin Aftab, Sales Manager ( East India).
Talking to The Travel and Tourism Times, at the sidelines of Amazing Thailand Roadshow 2025 in Kolkata, Ms. Niharika Bhatia, manager, India ( Sales and Distribution) said that most of its flights remain completely filled up with passengers at present.
“ We have launched the Kolkata Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (NSCBI) to Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok from December last year and presently flying four days a week and almost all flights are completely occupied,”said Ms. Niharika Bhatia.
Thai Lion air presently operates daily flights to DMK from Mumbai. Though it had commenced its flight operations from Mumbai during 2017-2018, but during the outbreak of the Covid -19 pandemic flight operations were closed for about two years.
The Kolkata flight departs at 2.35 AM (IST) and reaches Bangkok at around 6.35 AM (IST).
