On Tuesday, at a ceremony held at the Sikh Heritage Bhavan, Daroga Rai Path, Hon’ble Tourism Minister Shri Raju Kumar Singh presented awards to the winners of the Mera Prakhand, Mera Gaurav and Bihar Through Influencers’ Eyes competitions organized by the Tourism Department. The Hon’ble Minister felicitated the 35 winners of these contests, held last year, and extended his best wishes to them. Prior to the ceremony, the Hon’ble Minister was welcomed by Shri Lokesh Kumar Singh, Secretary, Tourism Department.
In his address, he said that the competitions were organized by the department last year with the objective of identifying lesser-known or unexplored sites in different blocks of the state that hold historical, religious, or cultural significance. By bringing such places onto the tourism map, Bihar’s tourism potential can be enriched further. These contests were aimed at creating public awareness about local heritage and important sites, as well as encouraging their preservation. A large number of residents of Bihar participated, and today the winners of both competitions are being honored. He added that if the public continues to share details of tourism-worthy sites in their regions via email, the department will incorporate them into future plans, programs, and policies.

During the ceremony, the Minister presented cash awards of ₹50,000 with a certificate, ₹45,000 with a certificate, and ₹35,000 with a certificate to the first, second, and third prize winners of the Mera Prakhand, Mera Gaurav competition. Additionally, 10 winners were given consolation prizes of ₹20,000 each. In the Bihar Through Influencers’ Eyes competition, one winner received a special award of ₹50,000, while 18 others received consolation prizes.
In his remarks, the Hon’ble Minister stated that both competitions were conducted online last year. In the Mera Prakhand, Mera Gaurav contest, participants were required to identify a site in their block that had remained relatively unknown but could hold tourism significance, and provide detailed information about it. The entries were evaluated block-wise at the district level by a jury chaired by the District Magistrate. The jury included officials at the level of Additional Collector, Tourism Officer, District Public Relations Officer, and the Circle Officer/Block Development Officer of the concerned block.
Congratulating all the winners, the Tourism Minister expressed hope that this recognition would inspire them to continue bringing Bihar’s tourism destinations into the global spotlight with renewed dedication.
