During Pitru Paksha, from 6–21 September, the annual Pitru Paksha Mela will be organized in Gaya Ji for offering tarpan and pinddaan to one’s revered ancestors. A large number of devotees visit Gaya Ji during this period for these rituals. On this occasion, the Tourism Department has launched special travel packages, along with an additional facility for devotees to perform E-Pind Daan from their homes.
Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) has released special travel package options for devotees visiting the Pitru Paksha Mela. Through these packages, devotees will not only get an opportunity to perform pinddaan at Gaya Ji but will also receive special assistance from the Tourism Department in completing the religious rituals. For devotees who are unable to travel in person, the facility of E-Pind Daan has also been made available.
After performing pinddaan, devotees may also visit nearby religious and historical sites. For this purpose, BSTDC has introduced five types of tour packages which can be booked online through the official website.
The packages include:
- One-day Patna–Punpun–Gaya package
- One night / two days Patna–Punpun–Nalanda–Rajgir–Patna tour package
- One-day Gaya Ji package
- One night / two days Gaya Ji package
- One night / two days Gaya–Bodh Gaya–Rajgir–Nalanda–Gaya Ji package
Devotees can book packages for one person, two persons, or four persons under categories such as budget hotels, two-star, three-star hotels, or resorts. The packages start from ₹13,450.
For devotees residing in India or abroad who are unable to come to Gaya Ji, the E-Pind Daan facility can be availed at a cost of ₹23,000. Under this package, priests will perform pinddaan / tarpan at Vishnupad Temple, Akshayavat, and the Falgu River in Gaya Ji. Complete video recording of the rituals, including chanting of mantras, offerings, donations, and puja materials, will be prepared in a pen drive and provided by the priest.
