The Tourism Department is developing JP Ganga Path as a major tourist destination. Now, visitors will get to experience a scenic 15 km ride along the Ganga River on a double-decker bus, from Digha Ghat to Kangan Ghat.
The double-decker bus service was inaugurated today, 2nd September 2025, at 1:30 PM by Bihar Minister of Tourism, Mr. Raju Kumar Singh.
On this occasion, the Tourism Minister stated that the launch of this bus service will provide better facilities for tourists. Along with experiencing the beauty of the Ganga, visitors will also be able to see Patna city and its historic ghats, giving them a delightful and unique experience. He further added that initially one bus will operate, but if there is a good response from tourists, more buses will be added. This initiative marks a big step towards making Patna more attractive on the tourism map.
Mr. Nand Kishore, Managing Director of BSTDC, informed that the double-decker bus service will help boost tourism in the state. Soon, BSTDC will also introduce booking packages on this bus for birthdays and other events, enabling Patna residents to celebrate and enjoy occasions on the Ganga Path.
With the commencement of this service, tourists will get to visit attractions such as JP Ganga Path Golambar, SabhyataDwar, Darbhanga House, Mahendru Ghat, Gandhi Ghat, Law College Ghat, Mahatma Gandhi Setu, Chitragupta Temple, and Kangan Ghat.
The bus has a seating capacity of 40 passengers – 20 comfortable open-top seats on the upper deck and 20 air-conditioned seats on the lower deck. Additional facilities include a refrigerator, a washroom, and a guide onboard to provide detailed information about Patna’s ghats and other tourist spots. Passengers will also enjoy a moving view of the city and the Ganga River.
The fare has been set at ₹100 per person for a round trip (Digha Rotary to Kangan Ghat & return) and ₹50 per person for a one-way trip (either Digha Rotary to Kangan Ghat or Kangan Ghat to Digha Rotary).
On this occasion, Chief Engineer Mr. Sunil Kumar Suman, Transport Manager Mr. Ratnesh Kumar, along with other departmental officials and staff, were present.
