Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that tourism plays a crucial role in strengthening the economy. Along with boosting national income, tourism also generates large-scale employment opportunities. Tourism and pilgrimage are gateways to prosperity for our nation, especially for Madhya Pradesh. Being the ‘Heart of India’, Madhya Pradesh is giving special priority to tourism development to elevate its global identity. The state government is continuously working to expand and promote tourism through inclusive efforts that connect all sections of society. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav informed that investment proposals worth Rs. 3,500 crore were received at the Gwalior Tourism Conclave. Letters of Allotment (LOAs) were issued to six investors, paving the way for investments of over Rs. 60 crore and significant job creation.

CM Dr. Yadav was addressing the two-day Regional Tourism Conclave at Rajmata Vijayaraje Scindia Agricultural University campus, Gwalior, on Saturday. He said Madhya Pradesh’s cultural, historical, and religious heritage is a major attraction at the global level. Preserving and promoting this heritage will not only make the state economically self-reliant but also strengthen the vision of an ‘Atmanirbhar, Viksit and Samruddh Bharat’.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav highlighted that under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, ‘National Small Industry Day’ is being celebrated today, and on this auspicious occasion, Gwalior is hosting its first ‘Regional Tourism Conclave’. He noted that Gwalior, located close to the national capital, is home to the historic fort built during Raja Man Singh Tomar’s era, renowned worldwide for its unique architecture. Many powerful rulers were once imprisoned in this fort. CM Dr. Yadav further recalled that India’s old Parliament House (1912) was inspired by the design of Morena’s Chausath Yogini Temple, while the new Parliament building has been constructed on the design of Vidisha’s temple, with its dome resembling the Sanchi Stupa

CM Dr. Yadav also said that first-time visitors are amazed to see cheetahs roaming freely reflecting the spirit of coexistence between humans and wildlife in Madhya Pradesh. Highlighting Gwalior’s cultural legacy, he noted that the region is the land of music legends Tansen and Baiju Bawra. A sum of Rs. 50 crore has been allocated for the construction of Raja Man Singh Tomar Music University in Gwalior. Jiwaji University has also been granted significant funds under the PM Usha scheme for development works. After Rewa, the Gwalior region is now receiving major projects for tourism development. Indigo Airlines has contributed Rs. 100 crore from its CSR fund for various development works at Gwalior Fort.

The Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Modi is showcasing India’s heritage and tourist destinations to the world, while also inspiring citizens towards self-reliance through campaigns like Make in India, Made in India, Vocal for Local, and Adopt Swadeshi. At the conclave, industrialist Shri Sachin Gupta presented an investment proposal of Rs. 1,000 crore, while other investors and industry groups together submitted proposals worth Rs. 3,500 crore to the state government

CM Dr. Yadav informed that this conclave is also part of preparations for the upcoming Madhya Pradesh Travel Mart to be held from October 11 to 13, which will be a landmark event for the tourism sector. He further announced that on Sunday (August 31), Morena district will receive several new projects, including the foundation stone for a hydrogen plant at the Piparsaira Industrial Area, with an investment of about Rs. 500 crore.

At the conclave, leading investors expressed their intent to invest in the Gwalior–Chambal and Sagar divisions, highlighting the immense potential for tourism development. This historic moment will open new avenues of economic prosperity and employment for both regions.

LOA to 6 Investors

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav issued Letters of Allotment (LOAs) for seven land plots to 6 investors to boost investment in the tourism sector. This initiative will bring in investments of over Rs. 60 crore, generating significant direct and indirect employment opportunities. The allotted lands will be used for the construction of hotels, resorts and eco-tourism units. LOA to Shri Arun Tiwari for Eco-tourism activities with 40 rooms at Gandhisagar (Mandsaur) and Hemabardi (Dhar). Shri Yash Jain for a 20-room resort at Rahipura (Burhanpur),  Smt. Smriti Mukul Thorat, M/s Shri Sai Warehouse &Agro Service for a 20-room resort at Bijana (Shajapur), Shri Amit Upadhyay for a 25-room hotel/resort at Kagpur (Vidisha), Shri Sanjay Paw for Eco-tourism activities with 22 rooms at Gandhisagar (Mandsaur) and Shri Vikas Nema/Praveen Nayak, M/s A.N. Associates for a 30-room resort.

Interaction with Key Investors and Stakeholders

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav interacted with several leading investors and stakeholders of the tourism industry at the conclave. He invited them to invest in Madhya Pradesh’s thriving tourism sector and become partners in the state’s development.

Foundation Stones Laid, Tourism & Heritage Action Plan Released:

To promote tourism in the Gwalior–Chambal region and preserve heritage, CM Dr. Yadav laid foundation stones and launched key initiatives─ Rs. 17 crore development works at the historic Phoolbagh area in Gwalior under ‘Swadesh Darshan 2.0’, Rs. 58.46 crore development works at Raja Mansingh Tomar Music and Arts University, Launch of Craftgroom e-commerce platform (with Delberto) to promote traditional crafts and weaving. The Action Plan for conservation and beautification for Gwalior Fort was released.

MoUs Signed for Digital Promotion of MP Tourism:

For large-scale influencer marketing and promotion of Madhya Pradesh tourism sites, activities, and events, MoUs were signed with Yap Digital, Crayons Advertising, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. and Concept Communications. These agreements aim to enhance investor confidence and benefit local communities and artists.

Conclave to Unlock New Avenues for Gwalior–Chambal &Bundelkhand : Speaker Shri Tomar

Assembly Speaker Mr.Narendra Singh Tomar said that CM Dr. Yadav’s comprehensive efforts for investment will strengthen Madhya Pradesh’s economy and create employment. He emphasized that the Gwalior Tourism Conclave will give a boost to tourism infrastructure across the Gwalior–Chambal and Bundelkhand regions.

Gwalior Holds Immense Tourism Potential : Minister Shri Lodhi

Minister of State for Tourism, Culture and Religious Trusts Shri Dharmendra Bhav Singh Lodhi said Gwalior has limitless tourism opportunities. With rich heritage, 18 UNESCO-recognized sites in Madhya Pradesh, and Gwalior’s recognition as a UNESCO City of Music, the state is moving toward becoming India’s No. 1 tourism destination.

Presentation on Tourism Policies and Vision:

Principal Secretary (Tourism & Culture) and MD, MP Tourism Board, Mr. Shiv Shekhar Shukla presented the highlights of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Policy 2025 and Madhya Pradesh Film Policy 2025. He outlined benefits for investors, natural beauty, cultural richness, heritage conservation, rural tourism, and local art promotion.

MP’s Film Policy Simplifies Shooting: Actor Shri Piyush Mishra

Actor Shri Piyush Mishra shared his experiences, noting that Madhya Pradesh’s film policy has made shooting easier with its friendly environment. He emphasised that MP’s theatre traditions and supportive ecosystem will help cinema and young talent flourish.

Investors Share Experiences:

Mr. Asad Lalljee (Essar Group & Royal Opera House Mumbai) praised rapid tourism development under PM Modi and CM Yadav’s leadership. Shri Ravi Gosain (President, IATO) said the conclave is a major platform to showcase MP’s tourism offerings; over 200 tour operators will explore Gwalior through FAM tours. Shri Aman Nath (Director, Neemrana Hotels Pvt. Ltd.) described MP as a hub of heritage and connectivity, ideal for tourism and industry. All investors appreciated MP’s tourism policies and reaffirmed their commitment to contribute to its growth.

Gwalior–Chambal’s Crafts Impress Investors:

The exhibition of local handicrafts and artworks left a deep impression on national tour operators, investors, and art enthusiasts. The showcase featured terracotta crafts, wooden toys, handloom apparel with patchwork, Sikki art, paper bamboo toys, resin art, and colorful cloth dolls. Artisans expressed delight at the strong investor response, with many receiving business inquiries. A highlight of the event was when Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav was presented with the iconic ‘Batto Bai Doll’ by her granddaughter, Ms. Kamini Bai. MP Tourism is actively promoting this traditional craft through its official website.
