BREAKING NEWS : NORTH EAST INDIA TOURISM CONFEDERATION AND ASSOCIATION OF BUDDHIST TOUR OPERATORS INKED MoU TO PROMOTE BUDDHIST PILGRIMAGE TOURISM IN NORTH EAST INDIA

In a noteworthy development aimed at strengthening tourism linkages, the North East India Tourism Confederation (NEITC) and the Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster collaboration in the field of travel and tourism, with particular emphasis on the promotion of Buddhist pilgrimage tourism across the Northeast region.

The MoU was formally signed by Tsering Wange, President, NEITC, and Dr. Kaulesh Kumar, Adviser (Tourism), Government of India, and Secretary General, ABTO. The signing ceremony was held in the gracious presence of Shri Mopi Mihu,  MLA and Advisor to the  Minister of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and Shri Bekir Nyorak, Deputy Commissioner, Dibang Valley.

Dr. Kaulesh Kumar, Secretary General of Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO) has hailed this as a historic move to promote Buddhist Pilgrimage Tour in North East India with collaboration of North East India Tourism Confederation (NEITC).

The agreement seeks to establish a clear and structured framework of cooperation, delineating the roles, responsibilities, and collaborative mechanisms between NEITC and ABTO. It reflects a shared commitment to promoting sustainable tourism practices while positioning Northeast India as a prominent destination within the Buddhist pilgrimage circuit.

This Memorandum of Understanding signifies a mutual intent to collaborate and strengthen institutional ties. It serves as an expression of goodwill and a guiding framework for partnership, without creating legally binding obligations beyond those explicitly outlined within the document.

Incidentally, the NEITC has organised a very big NAMSAI Convention in Arunachal Pradesh, followed by a FAM trip along with all the stakeholders and participants.

Deputy CM  of Arunachal Pradesh, Mr. Chowna Mein had attended the NEITC Convention in Namsai, emphasising community driven and sustainable tourism along with participation of local stakeholders.

The inaugural session was attended by Mr. Rajendra Kumar Suman, Regional Director of North East of India Tourism, NEITC President E. B.Blah of Meghalaya, Convention Chairman Tsering Wange, Deputy Commissioner of Namsai, CR Khampa among other tour operators from North East Indian states.
