Chief Minister of Bihar, Mr. Nitish Kumar has laid the foundation stone of PhulharSthan, Harlakhi, the sacred land where first time Mother Janki met Lord Shri Ram for development of various tourism facilities worth Rs.31.13 crores.

With this proposed upgradation the place will be renovated like the birthplace of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya in Uttar Pradesh.

The  Rs.31.13 crores fund will be used for beautification and modernization of the ancient Bagh TaragPushpavatika and the campus of Girija Devi Mandir.

Later CM of Bihar, Mr. Nitish Kumar wrote in his official X handle,

“Located in the Madhubani district, the sacred land of PhulharSthan, Harlakhi, has been a witness to the first meeting of Mother Janaki and Lord Shri Ram. This place is renowned as their first meeting site. Today, I had the privilege of laying the foundation stone for the development of tourism facilities

here at a cost of 31.13 crore rupees. This is a matter of pride and fortune for all of us Biharis. I am extremely delighted to share the proposed design of this development project with all of you.”

Phulhar is an ancient historical site in Madhubani district of Mithila region of Bihar. It is the place where Lord  Shri Ram and Goddess Sita first time met. It was a flower garden of King Janaka of Mithila. A temple of the Hindu goddess Bhagwati known as Girija Sthan is situated there. This place is mentioned in many Hindu texts of the ancient India. This place has been recognised by theState  Government of Bihar in 2020 as tourist centre for Hindu pilgrims. This place is related to Lord Shri Ram. It has been identified as one of locations in the Ramayana circuit.
