Vithalapur, Sanquelim lit up with colour, devotion, and festive joy as Tripurari Poornima was celebrated with great pride and enthusiasm. The festival is being held jointly by the Department of Tourism, Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), Department of Art and Culture, and Department of Information and Publicity, drawing eager participation from local communities as well as travellers from across India and beyond.
The event was graced by the Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant; Chairman, GTDC, Shri Kedar J. Naik; MLA & Chairman, Goa State Horticultural Corporation Ltd., Dr. Premendra Shet; MLA & Chairman, Goa Infotech Corporation Ltd., Dr. Chandrakant Shetye; Director of Art and Culture, Mr. Vivek Naik; Deputy General Manager, GTDC, Mr. Deepak Narvekar; Assistant Tourist Officer, Smt. Chitra Vengurlekar; Dy. Collector, Bicholim, Mr. Shubham Naik; Chairperson, Sanquelim Municipal Council, Smt. Siddhi Prabhu Porob; and members of the Deepawali Utsav Samiti and Shree Dev Vitthal Panchayatan Mandir Samiti.
The festivities commenced with a sacred procession dedicated to Lord Shrikrishna, creating an atmosphere filled with devotion. A graceful Palkhi procession of Shree Vitthal Rakhumai followed, setting a deeply spiritual tone for the evening. Beautifully choreographed cultural performances showcased Goa’s vibrant traditions, drawing applause from all present.

The traditional Boat Show once again stood out as the main attraction, with exquisitely crafted boats illuminating the waters, honouring Goa’s rich maritime legacy. As the evening progressed, the symbolic ‘Tripurasur Vadh’ presentation captivated audiences, retelling the revered legend associated with this festival. The celebration concluded with the release of ‘Saranga,’ lighting up the night sky in a magnificent display.
Speaking on the occasion Hon’ble Chief Minister, Dr. Pramod Sawant stated, “Tripurari Poornima reflects the creativity and cultural devotion of our people. This year, the first, second, and third winning boats will be preserved and displayed at Ravindra Bhavan or Kala Academy, allowing national and international visitors to appreciate this unique Goan art form. As we move toward Viksit Bharat @2047 and Viksit Goa @2037, we must encourage youth participation in art and culture alongside innovation, technology, and research. The contribution of Yuva Shakti is vital to shaping a progressive and culturally enriched Goa. I am confident that our young people will come forward to carry these traditions forward while embracing new opportunities for growth.”
Minister for Tourism, Mr. Rohan A. Khaunte, shared, “Tripurari Poornima is an important celebration that reflects the spiritual and cultural depth of Goa. Festivals like this take visitors beyond beaches and into our riverine traditions, community stories, and devotional heritage. Each year, the Department undertakes thematic décor and curated galleries to elevate the experience for both residents and travellers. As we continue to promote spiritual tourism, our focus remains on strengthening community participation and offering experiences that are authentic, meaningful, and rooted in Goa’s identity.”
MLA & Chairman, Goa State Horticultural Corporation Ltd., Dr. Premendra Shet, stated “Tripurari Poornima reflects the essence of our traditions and the joy it brings to communities. The Government continues to organise meaningful programmes that celebrate culture and help enhance the overall happiness index of our people. Such festivals strengthen bonds, encourage participation, and bring pride to local communities.”
Hon’ble MLA and Chairman of GTDC, Shri Kedar J.Naik remarked,, “Tripurari Poornima beautifully showcases Goa’s traditions through art, music, and community participation. GTDC has also beautified the festival site through painting and aesthetic enhancements to provide a welcoming ambience. This festival brings people together and offers visitors an enriching cultural experience. GTDC is pleased to support initiatives that highlight our unique identity and promote responsible tourism.”
Hon’ble MLA & Chairman, Goa Infotech Corporation Ltd., Dr. Chandrakant Shetye said, “Tripurari Poornima is truly a celebration of artistic expression, devotion, and community participation. The enthusiasm of the participants and the support of the community make this festival truly special. We will continue to encourage cultural events that celebrate local talent and bring economic opportunities to our people.”
Director Tourism, Shri Kedar Naik added, “Tripurari Poornima continues to strengthen Goa’s festival calendar by showcasing traditions that are deeply rooted in community life. We remain focused on creating well-curated cultural experiences that enhance visitor engagement.
On the occasion, the Hon’ble Chief Minister also inaugurated an exhibition set up by the Department of Information and Publicity, highlighting infrastructure development and various facets of Goa, further enriching the experience for visitors.
This year’s Tripurari Poornima once again reaffirmed the festival’s deep cultural significance, inspiring joy among participants. The state looks forward to celebrating this grand festival with continued spirit and greater participation in the coming years
