The “Mera Prakhand, Mera Gaurav” contest organized by the Tourism Department has now reached its final stage. The aim of this competition is to identify lesser-known or unexplored tourist sites in various blocks of the state that are of historical, religious, or cultural significance. By bringing these places onto the tourism map, the state’s tourism potential can be greatly enriched.
This contest has been organized to raise public awareness about local heritage and important sites and to encourage their preservation. So far, 13 remarkable tourist destinations from different blocks of Bihar have been shortlisted by a jury. The people of Bihar can now choose their favourite among them and help it win the People’s Choice Award.

Selection Process:
The contest was conducted online from October 2 to November 1 last year. Participants were asked to identify and submit information about a tourist site in their block that is currently lesser-known but holds tourism potential. They had to include all relevant details in their entry.
Submissions received block-wise from each district were evaluated at the district level by a selection committee headed by the District Magistrate. The jury included officials at the Additional Collector level, Tourism Officers, District Public Relations Officers, and Block Development Officers or Circle Officers from the concerned blocks.
After local evaluation, the selected entries were sent to the Tourism Department, where a panel of subject-matter experts finalized the winners. For both the Jury Awards and People’s Choice Awards, three winners each will receive:
- 1st Prize: ₹50,000 + Certificate
- 2nd Prize: ₹45,000 + Certificate
- 3rd Prize: ₹35,000 + Certificate
Additionally, ten participants will receive consolation prizes of ₹20,000 each, and other selected participants will also receive cash prizes and certificates.
