On the occasion of World Tourism Day on 27September 2025, the Central India Connect Marketplace was successfully organized at Myra Resort & Convention Center, Raipur under the joint aegis of the Chhattisgarh Tourism Board and Chhattisgarh Travel Trade Association (CGTTA).
The main objective of this event was to promote business opportunities in the tourism sector, create new networking platforms, and encourage the state’s tourism industry at the national and international level.
The program began with a Business-to-Business (B2B) marketplace and networking sessions, where tour operators and representatives from various states gave presentations. Special presentations were also given by the international destination partner Forever Journey Dubai (UAE) and venue partner Myra Resort & Convention Center, Raipur.
The stage program commenced with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and the welcome of dignitaries. Among those present were:
- Shri Rajesh Agrawal, Minister of Tourism, Culture & Religious Trust
- Shri Neelu Sharma, Chairman, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board
- Rohit Yadav, Secretary, Department of Tourism & Culture
- Shri Vivek Acharya, Managing Director, Chhattisgarh Tourism Board
- Shri Jaspreet Bhatia, President, CGTTA
- Shri Jagdeep Bhagat, National President, Tourism India Alliance (TAI)
The event began with a welcome address by the CGTTA President, followed by an in-depth presentation by Dr. Rohit Yadav on the state’s tourism policies and opportunities.
Shri Neelu Sharma shared details of upcoming events and the tourism roadmap.
Tourism Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal highlighted Chhattisgarh’s cultural heritage, tourism potential, and new initiatives in his address and officially launched the new Chhattisgarh Tourism Board website.
The program concluded with closing remarks by Shri Vivek Acharya.
Two key MoUs were signed to accelerate tourism development:
- Chhattisgarh Tourism Board & IRCTC– to launch the Chief Minister Jan Tourism Scheme
- Chhattisgarh Tourism Board & FICCI– to organize national and international roadshows and the Chhattisgarh Travel Mart.
Present on this occasion were FICCI Senior Advisor Shri Manab Majumdar, Assistant Secretary General Shri Manish Ahuja, IRCTC Deputy General Manager Shri Praveen Kumar Sharma, and Area Officer Shri Rajeev Kumar.
A major highlight of the event was the Tourism Awards Ceremony, where stakeholders contributing to the tourism sector were honored.
Under the Tourism Awards scheme announced by Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai during the first edition of the Connect Marketplace, awards were presented in 10 categories, including:
- Best Hotel– Hotel Shreshta
- Best Tour Operator– Ritesh Mundra
- Best District Tourism Promotion Award– Dantewada
- Best Tourism Startup– Jeet Singh Arya
- CTB Star Performer (Best Resort)– Dandami Luxury Resort
- CTB Star Performer (Tourist Information Center)– I.C. Airport Raipur
- Best Homestay– Bhoramdev Jungle Retreat
- Best Social Media Influencer– Akash Sahu (Akash Ka Safar)
- Best Eco-Tourism Site– Gaurela–Pendra–Marwahi
- Best Adventure Tourism Award– Khemlal Sahu (36 Montane)
The ceremony concluded with a memento being presented to Hon’ble Minister Shri Rajesh Agrawal.
This landmark event not only gave a new dimension to Chhattisgarh’s tourism sector but also marked a significant step towards strengthening the state’s presence on the national and international tourism map.
