NEW DELHI, 26 MARCH 2023:

The main objective of the Investors’ Tourism Summit is to promote the Indian travel and tourism industry as an ‘Investment Destination’ and provide a common platform for the Central/State governments and the investors to discuss investment possibilities in the tourism industry of India.


The Summit will allow both domestic as well as foreign potential investors to identify state-specific investment possibilities in the segment unique to that state. The States can also simultaneously showcase their strengths to the international investors in a bid to invite investments for sprucing up their tourism infrastructure. This will also increase focus towards new destinations: –

Andaman and Nicobar Islands: offer attractive investment opportunities for the wood-based industries as around 85% of the area is covered under tropical rainforests. The Islands are in close proximity to Indonesia and Thailand and are well connected with the rest of the world.

Jammu & Kashmir: offers Destination Development Projects in major cities like Srinagar, Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg; seeks investments in industrial & urban infrastructure projects; building up of road network in urban and rural areas investments in the horticulture industry; handicrafts, handlooms amongst others.

Leh-ladakh: Ladakh, the Northern-most union territory of India, shares its international border with China, Pakistan and Afghanistan. Immense business opportunities in Ladakh are offered as the Union Territory lies in the Greater-Himalayan ranges with salt and freshwater lakes, dunes and camels.

GITS will be leveraged to bring in global investments beyond the hospitality industry, that is, into theme parks, adventure tourism, amusement parks and skiing destination infrastructure and further, to bring in investments in the tourism infrastructure, technology, skill development, startups and more.

The summit will give an opportune platform for investors even from G20 countries to explore Indian tourism industry products among areas of other bilateral/multilateral engagements. India has a historic chance to exhibit its tourism, culture, and legacy to the 19 most powerful nations and the EU forming G20. G20 presidency will be leveraged for fruitful developments in tourism sector and promoting a sustainable, responsible and inclusive tourism in India.

The Road shows of the 1st  Global Tourism Investor’s Meet has been organised at avrious parts of the country.

India’s tourism is poised for growth ( Vision by 2030)- contribution of travel and tourism in India’s GDP will be 250 billion USD, 140 million jobs will be generated throughout the country, and 56 billion USD Foreign Exchange will be earned.
