At Santiniketan, the Santiniketan Society for Youth Empowerment (SSYE – ssye.org ), in collaboration with Idealis, USA (idealisadvisory.com ), has launched a unique Empowerment Programme to develop life skills and an entrepreneurial mindset among schoolgirls from Bolpur and Santiniketan.
The programme offers a distinctive blend of practical and cognitive skills—time management, curiosity, idea generation, use of AI—as well as essential life skills like basic cooking and self-defense.
Mr. Suprobhat Ghosal, one of the mentors of the programme, says, “This initiative is quite different from the usual programmes. It focuses on attitudinal change while also teaching practical skills like how to make desserts and birthday cakes.”
Mr. Robin Ghosh, President of SSYE, adds, “We are grateful to Sumona De Graff of Idealis, USA for supporting this programme. Our goal is to train 100 girls in rural Bengal and 100 girls in urban Kolkata.”
Dr. Suparna Ghosh, another mentor of SSYE, remarks, “We are entering a brave new world where resilience and adaptability to new technologies and systems are essential at every stage of life.”
For the past two decades, SSYE has been actively involved in vocational training and human skills development programmes.
