A three-day workshop on “Career Opportunities in the Tourism and Hospitality Industry” was inaugurated on 16th March 2026 at the New Conference Hall of Berhampur University by the Department of Tourism & Travel Studies with support from the PM-USHA (MERU) Grant.

Prof. Geetanjali Dash, Vice-Chancellor, Berhampur University, graced the inaugural session as the Chief Patron and highlighted the importance of the tourism industry. Prof. Sukanta Kumar Tripathy, Chairman, P.G. Council, attended as the Patron and addressed the gathering.

The programme was convened by Ms. Ritu Tiwari, Assistant Professor and Coordinator. The session was further enriched by the presence of Dr. Sunil Kumar Patnaik, Honorary Director-cum-Secretary, OIMSEAS, as the Chief Guest, who highlighted the career opportunities available in the tourism and hospitality industry, and Prof. Mir Abdul Sofique, University of Burdwan, as the Chief Speaker, who emphasized the scope of job prospects and career progression in the tourism industry for the students. On this gracious occasion, the department’s newsletter was also inaugurated.
They encouraged students to develop the appropriate skills, confidence, and industry-oriented knowledge. Students from Khallikote Unitary University, Ram Narayan Degree College, Dura and Gopalpur College, Gopalpur participated the workshop. The workshop will continue until 18th March 2026, featuring expert lectures and interactive sessions by industry experts and academicians.
