Mr. Robin Ghosh, regular Columnist and chief advisor of The Travel and Tourism Times, veteran economist and also the first producer of Bengali TV Serial made in Digital Format in Kolkata Doordarshan , superhit opera – Sonar Sansar, based on the story of writer Shankar has received a lifetime achievement award from Bengali TV Channel, TV9Bangla Ghorer Bioscope Awards 2023 at Kolkata.
The award has been handed over by veteran film actress and former MP, Moon Moon Sen. The CEO of TV9 Bangla, Barun Das and several luminaries from the film, media and political circles were present.
Infocom, the company started by Robin Ghosh ,pioneered and created the base line of Bengali Television industry in the 1990s .Starting with Sonar Sansar ,a social drama based on the novel written by wellknown writer Shankar,Infocom produced award winning serials in different fomats like short stories,classics,comedy and plays.
While receving the award,78 year old Robin Ghosh said that he feels nostalgic and is very happy to receive the award and said that in the years to come he would like to see TV9 Bangla Network emerging as a top international standard modern Bengali news channel from Kolkata.
Infocom has number of firsts – first bengali sopa for Doordarshan,first bengali short story serial for Doordarshan, first crime thrillers in Bengali for Doordarshan, first bengali sopa based on classic story of Sarat Chandra Chatterjee and Ashapurna Devi, first comedy serialfor Kolkata Doordarshan etc.
The television serials produced by Infocom are – Sonar Sansar ( family soap), Samparka ( Short story based serial), Bichitra Tadanto ( Crime Drama), Subarnalata ( Classic), Charitraheen ( Classic), Adarsha Hindu Hotel ( Literary Masterpiece), Goenda Bhgawan Das ( Comedy), Abhinandan Bhagirath ( comedy), Rudra Sener Diary ( Crime Thriller), Kono Ek Gayer Bodhu ( Short Story), Theatre Through the Ages ( Play) etc.
From 1986 and till date , Infocom produced more than 3000 episodes of Television Serials and non fiction work and has received many awards. Infocom also helped to create a number of well known directors of today such as Raja Sen, Anjan Dutta, Gul Bahar Singh, Shyamal Sengupta, Raja Dasgupta, Ravi Ojha etc.
An alumni of the presitigious Delhi School of Economics (DSE), Robin Ghosh was also a student of the Noble Prize Winning Welfare Economist, Dr. Amartya Sen.
Union minister of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur was the chief guest for the event. Other important dignitaries present were Governor of Bengal, CV Ananda Bose, state minister and Kolkata Mayor, Firhad Hakim, and education minister Bratya Basu, among others.
