KOLKATA, 14 JUNE 2023:
About 62 people have donated blood in the camp of IndiaTourism Kolkata held at Apsara Hall in Park Street in Kolkata on the occasssion of World Blood Donor Day today.
Mostly hoteliers, travel agents and GDA company officials have donated blood today. Trained personell of Apollo Pharmacy have helped in collection of blood from the donors.
IndiaTourism Kolkata has organised the Raktadan Ki Amrit Mahotsav along with Travel Agents Federation of India (TAFI), Hotel and Restaurants Association of Eastern India (HRAEI), Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO), Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI0, Association of Domestic Tour Operators Of India ( ADTOI), Travel Agents Association of Bengal (TAAB), Association of Tourism Service Providers of Bengal (ATSPB) etc have sucessfully organised the mega blood donation camp at Kolkata today.
Dr. Sagnik Choudhury, DDG and Director (East) of union ministry of Tourism, Mr. Sayak Nandi, assistant director of India Tourism (Kolkata), Mr. Anil Punjabi, Chairman ( East) of Travel Agents Federation of India, Mr. Manav Soni, Chairman ( East) of Travel Agents Association of India, Mr. Amin Ashgar, Chairman (East) Skal International, Mr. Debjit Dutta, Chairman (WB), Indian Association of Tour Operators, Mr. Sajid Ahmed Khan of Thai Airways Kolkata, Mr. Subhash Goyel, Chairman of Aviation and Tourism Committee of Indian Chamber of Commerce, Amitabha Sarkar, General Secretary of Travel Agents Association of Bengal etc and many other dignitaries were present today.
Speaking on the occasssion, Dr. Sagnik Choudhury said that keeping a good health is a must for safe travel and tourism. Thanking all the stakeholders of the tourism sector of the east for making this blood donation camp a grand success he said that the department has also planned to organise a yoga mahotsav on the World Yoga Day on 21 June at Victoria Memorial at Kolkata.
Mr. Anil Punjabi of TAFI said that for the first time such an event has been organised and in the coming days they will be associated with many such social events organised by IndiaTourism Kolkata.
Blood donation is a noble cause and is linked with Incredible India’s rich culture and tradition of Seva and Sahyog . Raktadan Amrit Mahotsav is aimed to blood donation, blood distribution and blood management. It has also helped to increase awareness regarding regular non-remunerated voluntary blood donations and ensure that blood or its components (whole blood/ packed red blood cells/plasma/platelets) are available, accessible, affordable and safe.
The success of Raktdaan Amrit Mahotsav has strengthened the noble cause of humanity which will help immensely in saving many precious lives.
The slogan for this year’s World Blood Donor Day campaign is ‘Give blood, Give plasma, Share life Share often’. It focuses on patients requiring life-long transfusion support and underlines the role every single person can play, by giving the valuable gift of blood or plasma. The specific objectives of this year’s campaign are to Celebrate & thank individuals who donate blood and encourage more people to become new donors as well encourage people in good health to donate blood regularly, as ohem as is safe & possible to transform the quality of life for transfusion dependent patients and help to build a secure blood supply in all countries in the world.
