EVENT : THE ROYAL THAI CONSULATE-GENERAL IN KOLKATA HOSTS THAI COOKING SHOWCASE “THE SECRETS TO THAI COOKING” TO PROMOTE THAILAND’S RICH CULINARY HERITAGE AND FOSTER THAILAND – INDIA CULTURAL PARTNERSHIP SAYS THAI CONSULATE GENARAL SIRIPORN TANTIPANYATHEP

KOLKATA, 5 SEPTEMBER 2024:

On 5 September 2024, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, in partnership with The Park Hotel, presented the Thai Cooking Showcase titled “The Secrets to Thai Cooking”. This event, part of the “Thai Kitchen to the World” initiative, took place at Zen restaurant within The Park Hotel, Kolkata.

It attracted approximately 100 guests, including influencers, food bloggers, local media, as well as members of the Consular Corps in Kolkata, representatives from five-star hotels, cooking schools, supermarkets and Friends of Thailand.

At the event, Ms. Siriporn Tantipanyathep, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, highlighted the objectives of the Showcase: to celebrate Thailand’s rich culinary heritage and fosters closer ties between Thailand and India through shared culinary traditions, and people- to-people connections.

The event featured live cooking demonstrations by Chef Tawee Chaichana of The Park Hotel and Chef Samrong Chanfalaem, the Consul-General’s personal Chef.

They prepared beloved Thai dishes, including Som Tum, Pad Thai, Yam Woon Sen, Pla Sam Rot, Prawn in tamarind glaze and Luk Chup, allowing participants to savor authentic Thai flavors crafted from high-quality ingredients from Thailand. Additionally, from 6 – 20 September 2024, the Park Hotel will host a “Thai Food Week”. This special event will feature popular dishes such as Pad Thai, Green Curry, Gaeng Chu chee, Ma Hor, and more, providing the people of Kolkata with an extended opportunity to explore and enjoy the rich flavors of Thai cuisine.

The Consulate-General has  been continuously organizing  and supported various projects and activities under the “Thai Kitchen to the World’ initiative, dedicated to promoting and sharing Thai cuisine globally. Thai cuisine is more than just a reflection of Thailand’s history and culture, it also beautifully embodies the craftsmanship, creativity, and values that integral to the Thai way of life.

Mr. Maxim Kozlov, new Consul General of Russian Federation, Mr. Nakagawa Koichi, Consul General of Japan in Kolkata, Mr. Xu Wei, new Consul General of China in Kolakata, Mr. Manav Soni, Mr. Sajid Ahmed Khan, Thai Airways ( Kolkata), Mr. Manav Soni, Chairman of TAAI ( East), Mr. Anil Punjabi, TAFI National Executive Committee Member, Mr. Amin Ashgar, President ( Kolkata) Skal International etc were present on the occasssion.
