A meaningful exchange took place as members of the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Mumbai – Vice Consul, Mr. Kyeongbeom Kim and Administrator, Ms. Han Sung-hee – met with Dr. Atul Patne (IAS), Principal Secretary, Tourism, Dr. B.N. Patil (IAS), Director, Directorate of Tourism and Mr. Manojkumar Suryavanshi (IAS), Managing Director, MTDC, and team from Department of Tourism of Maharashtra Government in Mumbai few days ago.
The objective of the meeting was to explore new opportunities for tourism in Maharashtra for the South Korean nationals.
The conversation revolved around how both sides can work together to improve awareness, simplify travel processes, and encourage more South Koreans to experience the diverse offerings of Maharashtra. Maharashtra looks forward to welcoming more travellers from South Korea.
Earlier, the Maharashtra Government’s Department of Tourism has launched the Maharashtra Convention Bureau (MCB), India’s first state-led initiative to position the state as a premier global destination for conventions, exhibitions and business events. Announced at IMEX Frankfurt, one of the world’s largest MICE industry trade shows. MCB, headquartered in Mumbai, aims to attract and facilitate international events, enhancing Maharashtra’s reputation as a business and tourism hub.
This move aligns with the Maharashtra Tourism Policy 2024, emphasizing MICE tourism’s role in boosting the state’s visitor economy. Representing Maharashtra Tourism at IMEX were Mr. Indranil Naik, Minister of State; Dr. Atul Patne (IAS), Principal Secretary, Tourism; Mr. Santosh Rokade, Deputy Secretary, Tourism and Dr. B.N. Patil, IAS, Director, Directorate of Tourism.
