KOLKATA, 7 JULY 2023:
On 6 July 2023, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Kolkata, in collaboration with the International Institute of Hotel Management or IIHM Kolkata, organized the ‘Thai Culinary Class’ at IIHM (Kolkata campus) with the participation of over 70 IIHM students.
It was organized as a part of the Amazing Thailand Festival in Kolkata last May, which showcased Thailand’s unique culture and tradition with a focus on Thailand’s 5F; namely, food, film, fashion, fighting, and festival. The class aimed to offer participants the experience of cooking authentic and delicious Thai food in a fun and interactive way.
Ms. Acharapan Yavaprapas, Consul-General of Thailand in Kolkata, delivered an opening remarks followed by lecture on general information about Thailand, Thai culture, popular tourist destinations, as well as the knowledge and history of Thai Cuisine given by the Consulate-General’s officers. IIHM students had the opportunity to learn about the rich culinary traditions of Thailand and the art of Thai cooking. The highlight of the session was the live Thai cooking demonstration by Consul-General’s personal chef who featured an array of mouthwatering dishes, including the refreshing Green Papaya Salad (Som-Tum), Spicy Prawn Soup (Tom-Yum-Kung), Chicken Massaman Curry (Gaeng Massaman Gai), and Rice Dumplings in coconut milk (Bua-Loy).
This event is being held from 6 – 7 July 2023 at IIHM Campus. Students who attended the first-day class will then have an opportunity to cook along with the invited hotel and restaurant chefs, food bloggers, and home-cookers workshop in Kolkata on the second day. Through this collaboration, the Consulate-General aims to promote the popularity of Thai food in Kolkata as an easy-to-make food, easy-to-find ingredients, and healthy and nutritious food option.
IIHM Kolkata welcomes the team from Thai Consulate as it is Day 2 of their visit in campus and the students at IIHM get an opportunity to cook along with the chef as he handholds them into the beautiful and sumptuous world of Thai cuisine.
For the past two days  in live action here , the  IIHM students delve into cooking and fun learning.
IIHM knows no boundaries when it comes to giving exposure and proper education training to it’s students. Hence giving immense importance to education outside classroom.

The 2 day Thai Culinary Masterclass along with chefs from the Thai Consulate, Kolkata, and this time accompanied by expert knowledge from top bloggers of Kolkata on the final day was a huge success. The students of IIHM get to cook and learn with the top bloggers and food influencers from Kolkata, learning the best, from the best.
