The Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Bhubaneswar Office successfully organized a Heritage Walk in and around Barabati Fort, Cuttack on 25.11.2025 as part of the observance of World Heritage Week 2025. The event aimed to promote awareness about India’s rich cultural legacy and to encourage youth engagement in the preservation and appreciation of heritage monuments.

Yuva Tourism Students enthusiastically participated in the heritage walk. The programme commenced in the morning with a brief orientation on the historical importance of Barabati Fort, one of Odisha’s most prominent medieval landmarks. Experts highlighted the fort’s architectural features, its strategic significance in the region’s political history, and the cultural narratives associated with the Ganga dynasty and subsequent rulers.
During the walk, participants explored key points of interest including the ancient ramparts, the moat area, and the remains of the fort complex. Resource persons and local guides provided insightful commentary, helping students understand the need for conservation and responsible tourism practices.

The event also served as an interactive platform where students discussed themes such as heritage preservation, community involvement, sustainable tourism, and the role of youth in safeguarding cultural assets. Many participants expressed that the walk deepened their appreciation for Odisha’s historical treasures and inspired them to contribute actively to heritage-related activities.

The Heritage Walk concluded with a group interaction and a vote of thanks, acknowledging the support of local authorities, heritage enthusiasts, and participating students. Indiatourism Bhubaneswar reiterated its commitment to organizing similar initiatives to create widespread heritage awareness.
Overall, the Heritage Walk at Barabati Fort was both educational and enriching, effectively celebrating World Heritage Week 2025 and reinforcing the importance of preserving India’s timeless cultural heritage.
