An air show by Indian Air Force will be one of the major highlights of the fourth edition of two-day Beypore International Water Fest, India’s largest water festival, getting underway at Marina Beach at Beypore here on January 4.
The air show will be held on the inaugural day of the event from3 pm to 4 pm, offering a visual treat to people thronging the ancient port-town to see and cheer a wide range of water sporting and cultural programmes.
Tourism Minister Mr.P. A. Mohamed Riyas will inaugurate the January 4-5 Beypore International Water Fest.
This is for the first-time that the air show has been added to the annual event, organized by the Department of Tourism. The trial run and primary inspection for the air show will be conducted on January 2 and 3 at 3 pm.
The competitions as part of the event will commence on the opening day at 8am.
Noting that the air show will be a major attraction to this edition of the event, Mr. Riyas said apart from water sports competitions and leisure activities, it will offer a riveting spectacle on the skylines of the port town, drawing more visitors to the International Water Festival.
The event, which was originally scheduled for December 27 to 28, 2024, was postponed in view of the week-long mourning declared following the demise of former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.
The Beypore International Water Fest will be held across the scenic venues of Beypore, Chaliyam and Nallur in Kozhikode as a spectacular combination of adventure sports, cultural festivities and culinary celebrations.
Competitions will be held in sit-on-top kayak, sailing, fly board demo, para motoring, dinghy boat race, surfing, net throwing, drone show, angling and country boat race categories. International kite fest and Coast Guard Dornier fly past are other attractions of the event where public can visit the ship of Coast Guard and Navy.
Playback singers Jyotsna Radhakrishnan (Chaliyam Beach), KS Ravisankar and Vineeth Sreenivasan (Beypore Beach) will perform as part of the cultural programmes being held at the two-day event.
The Department of Tourism is organising the event in association with the district administration and District Tourism Promotion Council. The valedictory function of the event will be held on January 5 at 6 pm.
