The Department of Tourism of Bihar will ensure all necessary facilities for devotees from Sultanganj to Dumma and from Pahelja Ghat to Baba Garibnath Temple in Muzaffarpur during the world-renowned Shravani Mela. The department has completed all necessary preparations to provide accommodation, toilets, drinking water, Kanwar stands, and even entertainment for devotees and Kanwariyas. The holy Shrawan month starts on 11th July and will continue till 9th August.
In the stretch from Sultanganj to the Bihar border at Dumma, tent cities have been built to accommodate Kanwariyas/devotees with 200 beds in Sultanganj, 600 in Abarkha (Banka district), 200 in Khaira (Munger), and 200 in Dhobai (Munger). These tents are equipped with clean drinking water, toilets, Kanwar stands, cleanliness arrangements, electricity, etc. Cultural programs will be organized in these tent cities throughout the fair.
For the first time this year, the Tourism Department is also providing full facilities on the route from Pahelja to Baba Garibnath Temple. A German Hanger Tent City with 500 seating capacity has been erected near Pahelja Ghat, and a waterproof German Hanger Tent City with 1,000 seating capacity has been set up near RDS College, close to Baba Garibnath Temple in Muzaffarpur. Additionally, tent cities with 200-seat capacity each have been built at Goraul and Bithauli (Vaishali) and Turki (Muzaffarpur). All tent cities are equipped with fans, coolers, chairs, tables, CCTV surveillance, security arrangements, and bamboo Kanwar stands.
LED TVs in the tourist info centers will display live and recorded messages about Bihar tourism, along with public announcement systems. Medical services will be available at Pahelja Tent City, Baba Garibnath Temple Tent City, and temporary tourist info centers. The district administration will also organize Bhajan Sandhya (devotional music evenings) for the entertainment of Kanwariyas at the Baba Garibnath Temple tent city.
Each tent city will have a designated in-charge, whose mobile number, along with the toll-free helpline and local police contact, will be prominently displayed.
Bihar Tourism has released a dedicated toll-free helpline -(18003037677) for the Shravani Mela, through which devotees can obtain all important details, mobile contacts, and facility information.
A total of 12 temporary Tourist Information Centres will be set up from Sultanganj to Dumma, offering all necessary details and free brochures to pilgrims.
Ganga Aarti will be performed at Sultanganj, and a laser show based on the life of Lord Shiva will be showcased during the inauguration and closing ceremonies of the fair.
