A Masterful Film Essay on 16 Masters of Cinema from Ray to Tarkovsky Kolkata is the birthplace of a new cinematic genre: the film essay. This is the result of a collaboration between producer Robin Ghosh and director Ashoke Viswanathan, who is
also a former Dean and Professor of SRFTI, Kolkata.
Their video series, Masters of Cinema, is a unique and innovative product for film lovers worldwide.
Masters of Cinema is more than just a documentary series. It is a narrative that explores the art and vision of sixteen world-famous film directors, from Ray to Tarkovsky. It examines their storytelling techniques, their camera and editing styles, their worldview, and the message that they wanted to convey.
The series is a valuable resource for film students and enthusiasts. It is like a pocket dictionary of cinema, covering a diverse range of directors, from Ray, Mrinal, Ritwik to Godard, Truffaut, Hitchcock to Kubrick, Polanski, Tarkovsky and more. One can choose
between having lifetime access to Online Viewing or have a pendrive delivered to ones’ home Masters of Cinema is a global project with a local origin. It is produced by INFOCOM under the creative mentorship of Robin Ghosh, an economist and communication consultant, and a pioneer of television. It is directed by Ashoke Viswanathan, an award-winning filmmaker and educator.
It is made in Kolkata, but aimed at the world.
