The corporate objectives of Modern Coach Factory Raebareli is to provide state of the art passenger light weight stainless steel coaches with higher carrying capacity, fit for higher speeds, improved safety and better riding comfort for use of Indian Railways.
SOLAR ENERGY :
3MW grid connected land based MCF owned plant was commissioned and running successfully. This plant has generated 313.91 lakh unit (KWH) green energy till August 2023. Cumulative saving due to Solar energy generated till date is Rs 21.82Cr (approx).
This is the biggest solar power plant in any of Production Unit of Indian Railways. The power generation capacity of the solar power plant installed at Modern Coach Factory, Rae Bareli was increased by 130 KW on 23.08.2023. Now the total generation capacity of the solar plant is increased from 3 MW to 3.13 MW. It is planned to further increase solar capacity progressively.
For 14 MWp solar power through Developer mode, tender has been opened on 10.08.2023 in REMCL/RITES Gurgaon. Bid is under evaluation at REMCL. MCF can become self-sufficient in power generation and meet its total electricity demand through solar energy. Accordingly in MCF, more and more solar energy can be produced and the use of thermal energy can be reduced. It will help in energy conservation and environment.
3.13MWp caters to approx 32% load of Factory and Admin Building. After commissioning of 14 MW Roof top solar plant, Electrical Energy requirement of MCF will be fully met through solar energy.
PIPE-COOL DAY LIGHT SYSTEM :
MCF has installed 1711 no. of solar Day Pipe Light. Through it sunlight from roof top is captured and reflected through mirrors.
Annual saving incurred in terms of Energy
= 465(W) x 1711(nos.) x 10(hrs of operation)x 365(days)/1000= 2903994.75 kWh
Annual saving in terms of Money (assuming rate of energy a Rs. 6.87 per unit)
= 2903994.75 (kWh) x 5 (Rs.) = Rs. 1.45 Cr per annum.
