- Phase 1:Construction of 350 rooms
- Phase 2:Construction of 150 rooms
- The selected agency will complete the first phase within 4 years, and the Taj Five-Star Hotel is expected to begin operations by January 2030.

Taking a historic step in strengthening the tourism and hospitality sector in the state, today, in the presence of Bihar Tourism Minister Mr. Arun Shankar Prasad, the Tourism Department / Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Limited (BSTDCL) signed an agreement with Sarga Hotels Pvt. Ltd. for the operation of a 5-star luxury Taj Hotel on the land of Bankipur Bus Stand. The agreement has been executed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.

On this occasion, the Bihar Tourism Minister stated in his address that the people of the state have high expectations that tourists and business visitors should not face any difficulty in getting quality accommodation. A city like Patna has a strong need for five-star hotels. Keeping this in mind, the government is planning to construct three five-star hotels in the capital.
Construction of one five-star hotel has already begun in Patna. The agreement for the second one has been signed today and the formalities have now been completed. The Taj Hotel project should be completed within the stipulated time frame. The process for the third five-star hotel is also underway.

He further added that several facilities are being developed near tourist destinations in the state and new tourism circuits are being created. Just as a large number of tourists visit Bodh Gaya and Rajgir, in the coming days tourists will also visit Sitamarhi to see the Janaki Temple.
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), India’s largest hospitality company, also today announced the signing of this greenfield Taj hotel project in Patna, Bihar.

The 500‑key Taj Patna, located opposite the iconic Gandhi Maidan, enjoys a prime position with the River Ganges flowing to the north of the site. Guests can enjoy dining at the all‑day dining restaurant, two speciality restaurants and lobby lounge. The hotel offers a temperature‑controlled swimming pool, fitness centre, recreational facilities, salon and Taj’s signature J Wellness Circle spa. The hotel’s features expansive banqueting facilities including a 16,000 sq.ft. ballroom, complemented by multiple meeting spaces, making it ideal for large conferences and social gatherings.

The Managing Director of Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Limited, Mr. Nandkishore, informed that after the Transport Department of Bihar transferred the Bankipur Bus Stand land to the Tourism Department / BSTDCL, the state government decided to develop a five-star hotel with modern tourist facilities on the site. The project will be executed according to the provisions mentioned in the Infrastructure Development Enabling Amendment Act, 2023.
On this occasion, Mr. Rajesh Roshan (Joint Director, Tourism Directorate), Mr. Chandan Chauhan (General Manager, BSTDCL), along with other departmental officials and staff members were present.
With the addition of this hotel, IHCL will have 7 hotels in Bihar, including 4 under development.
