Himalayan Orange Tourism Festival, organised by ACT (Association for Conservation & Tourism) began from Samsing-Jaldhaka as an in-situ Festival in 2010. The Festival then traveled to Pemling and Lohagarh, before reaching Kolkata as a Festival to be celebrated with patrons from the city of tourist origin in 2014. Since then with the of City Centre the HOTF has completed six editions being organized almost every alternate year.

It is only during the recent damage to the stakeholders by extreme landslides and floods, the community members of ACT decided to organize the festival this year too, owing to the cancelations and almost no tourist enquiry.

A basic informal survey showed that there has been tourist movement from Bihar and Jharkhand, which has taken a share. Hence, the Executive Committee members, through the coordinators after an elaborate discussion with community members decided to organize the festival at Patna, where the City Centre has their presence, and ready to support this community movement in Patna too.

Today, the two coordinators, Gitali Lahiri and Mahasweta Roy in presence of community leaders, Urmila Sherpa, Vijay Thapa and Padam Gurung were part of the Press Meet at Siliguri for the 7th Himalayan Orange Tourism Festival to be held at Patna. The coordinator of ACT International Poets’ Pilgrimage Forum, Debjyoti Lahiri and ACT treasurer, Tannistha Rakshit also graced the occasion.
This Festival will help in many ways:

Bring a new market for Rural Tourism and Rural Enterprises of the Himalayan region of India, Bhutan and Nepal.

Connect the Living Buddhist circuit of this region with the main stream Buddhist circuit based in Bihar (Bodhgaya, Nalanda, Rajgirh and other major Buddhist pilgrimage sites).

Bring back the connection and pride of the Magadh era through tourism.

Help regional collaborations of institutions between East and Northeast India and continuity countries in the East Himalaya and beyond.
During this 11th, 12th and 13th December, 2025, there will be 18 stalls representing village clusters, cultural team performances of classical and folk, and meaningful meetings and discussions to take forward the cause.

This opportunity to know each other through this cultural and tourism exchange through the HOTF Patna will open new doors for cultural and business relations.
