On Wednesday, a significant agreement was signed between the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and M/s Sawani Heritage Conservation Private Limited, Mumbai. Through this agreement, various development and beautification works will be carried out at Chitrakoot in Satna district, along the banks of the River Mandakini, aimed at offering a world-class experience to pilgrims and tourists.
The agreement was signed under the guidance of Mr. Shiv Shekhar Shukla, Principal Secretary, Tourism & Culture and Managing Director of Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, and chaired by Ms. Bidisha Mukherjee, Additional Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. Mr. Prashant Singh Baghel, Joint Director of the Planning Division, MP Tourism Board, and Mr. Jitesh Kumar from M/s Sawani Heritage Conservation Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai signed the agreement. Ms. Shilpa Sharma, Project Management Consultant of MP Tourism Board, and Mr. Nilvin Raphael, Senior Architect from M/s IPE Global, also played key roles in this project.
Ms. Bidisha Mukherjee stated that a Destination Management Committee (DMC) has already been formed under the chairmanship of the Collector in Chitrakoot, and a Destination Management Organization (DMO) will be established in the future to handle planning, promotion, and operations.
As part of the agreement, development and beautification works will be carried out at Raghav Ghat, Bharat Ghat, and Vishram Ghat on the Mandakini riverbank. This will include establishing a Sattvik kitchen, entry gate, signage boards, toilets, souvenir shops, video LED wall, timeline wall, sculpture garden, control room, projection mapping, site development, and more.
Project Approved Under Swadesh Darshan 2.0——-
The project titled “Spiritual Ghat Experience in Chitrakoot” has been approved under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India’s Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme. The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board had floated tenders for implementation of this project under the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) mode and for 9 years of operation and maintenance.
A special feature of this project is that, apart from the defined components, the selected bidder will be free to develop other unique experiences at their own expense, with the permission of the Tourism Board, DMC Chairman, and Collector. The contracted organization will be responsible for operations and maintenance for 9 years, ensuring quality execution and management. To enhance visitor satisfaction, new attractions may also be developed independently by the implementing agency.
