Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli visited the tourist walkway linking the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) and the Giza Pyramids, part of the final preparations ahead of the museum’s opening on November 1.
The walkway stretches around 1.27 km with a width ranging from 13.5 to 27.5 meters. It starts from the museum’s main parking area, passes through Fayoum Road, and leads directly to the Giza Plateau.
The route is designed to preserve the area’s cultural and visual identity and allows movement by foot or electric vehicles.
For his part, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Sherif Fathy said that the walkway is part of Egypt’s broader effort to improve infrastructure around major heritage sites. The GEM opening is one of the most anticipated cultural events globally this year.
Major General Atef Moftah, who oversees the GEM project, noted that the walkway offers a seamless and comfortable visitor experience, linking two of Egypt’s most iconic landmarks.
