Madhya Pradesh is now set to offer tourists an experience long awaited. The thrill of nights in the forest, the calm of rivers and backwaters, and adventure activities that touch the skies, all are coming together to open a new chapter in tourism. With the objective of taking eco-tourism and adventure tourism to new heights, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board is launching two significant events this year. The 4th edition of Gandhisagar Forest Retreat will begin from September 12, 2025 at Gandhisagar Dam in Mandsaur district, while the 2nd edition of Kuno Forest Retreat will commence from October 5, 2025 near Kuno National Park in Sheopur district.

Tourism, Culture and Religious Trusts and Endowments Minister (Independent Charge) Mr. Dharmendra Singh Lodhi said that Gandhisagar and Kuno Forest Retreats are not merely tourism festivals, but a unique effort to integrate Madhya Pradesh’s natural heritage, cultural richness and environmental conservation. Both Gandhisagar and Kuno have emerged as hubs of eco-tourism and adventure tourism. While Gandhisagar Forest Retreat is aimed at placing Madhya Pradesh firmly on the map of adventure tourism, Kuno Forest Retreat is envisioned as a hub for wellness and wildlife tourism. These events will not only attract tourists from across India and abroad but also create employment opportunities for local communities.

Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism, Culture, Home, and Religious Trusts & Endowments, and Managing Director, Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, Mr.Sheo Shekhar Shukla said that Gandhisagar and Kuno Forest Retreats are fine examples of experience-based tourism. Guests will enjoy high-quality, fully equipped glamping and indulge in water, land and aerial adventure activities including parasailing, paramotoring, jet skiing, hot air ballooning, jungle safari, night walks and star gazing. Along with the all-season tent city, boat safari, boat spa, yoga and wellness sessions, local cuisines, handicraft displays and cultural performances will connect tourists closely with the culture and lifestyle of Madhya Pradesh. These events have been designed to ensure that along with tourism, environmental conservation, community participation and sustainable development remain top priorities.

Gandhisagar Forest Retreat & Festival (from September 12, 2025)

Situated at the scenic backwaters of the Chambal river at Gandhisagar Dam, the retreat was initiated by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board with the vision of developing an adventure hub that is now attracting domestic and international tourists.

* Glamping site amidst natural beauty (50 luxury all-season tents)

* Water, land and aerial adventure activities – parasailing, paramotoring, jet skiing, zorbing, etc.

* Boat safari and boat spa

* Jungle safari

Objectives & Benefits:

The initiative not only aims to establish Madhya Pradesh tourism at the national and international level, but will also boost the regional economy and create new local employment opportunities. By promoting nature and adventure tourism, it will increase the inflow of thrill-seeking tourists while preserving culture and traditions. It will also instill awareness among the younger generation about the state’s heritage and natural wealth.

Kuno Forest Retreat & Festival (from October 5, 2025)

Kuno National Park, which witnessed the historic reintroduction of cheetahs, is now set to present a unique blend of eco-tourism and cultural heritage. The retreat will redefine tourism with a strong focus on environmental protection and community participation.
