India Tourism Patna, Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India, in association with Tourism Stakeholders of Bihar & Hans Holidays, Rajgir, organised a Swachhata Abhiyan on 2nd October 2025 at Rajgir to mark Gandhi Jayanti, under the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva-2025 & Seva Parv 2025 campaigns.

The drive started at 08:00 hrs, covering key sites- Venuvan Area, Makhdum Kund, Pandu Pokhar, Aerial Ropeway and ended at Ghora Katora Gate.

The event saw enthusiastic participation — 34 volunteers including 17 Burmese tourists at Venuvan, 59 participants including 37 Muslim pilgrims at Makhdum Kund, and 110 participants including 95 Sri Lankan tourists near the Ropeway. Students, tourism stakeholders, media, and social workers also joined hands for the cause.

Participants appreciated this meaningful initiative and pledged to uphold the motto- “Swachh Bharat : Sundar Rajgir : Clean Environment.”

The cleanliness drive paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi and inspired everyone to continue the spirit of Swachh Bharat for a cleaner, greener India.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, Bhubaneswar Office, organised a Cleanliness Drive at Gandhi Smriti Pitha, Beraboi on 02.10.2025 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti 2025. This cleanliness drive was conducted as part of the nationwide Swachhata Hi Seva-2025 and Seva Parv 2025 Campaign to honour the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi who strongly advocated for cleanliness and community participation.

The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from local communities and tourism stakeholders.The drive began with a tribute to Mahatma Gandhi at the Smriti Pitha, followed by cleanliness drive and sustainable practices in daily life.

Participants actively engaged in cleaning the premises of Gandhi Smriti Pitha, nearby pathways, and public spaces. Awareness on waste management, reducing single-use plastics, and maintaining cleanliness at heritage and tourism sites was also spread among local residents and visitors.

Officials from the Indiatourism Bhubaneswar Shri Jagannath Behera, Tourist Information Officer highlighted the importance of involving all stakeholders in preserving cultural and historical sites, ensuring that such places remain attractive and welcoming for both domestic and international tourists. Local Communities and Tourism stakeholders played a key role in inspiring others by demonstrating active participation.

The cleanliness drive not only paid homage to the Father of the Nation but also strengthened the message of collective responsibility for a cleaner India. The programme concluded with an appeal to continue the spirit of “Swachh Bharat” in every tourist destinations and in everyday life.
