Many devotees, despite their desire, are unable to undertake the strenuous journey to the sacred Kedarnath Temple. The central government had already announced the good news forthose pilgrims in last March. The Cabinet approved the construction of a 12.9 km-long ropeway fromSon Prayag to Kedarnath.

Onlast  Wednesday, it was announced that the ₹4,081 crore project will be implemented by the Adani Group. Gautam Adani, head of the company, stated on X (formerly Twitter) that the historic ropeway project will be completed within the next six years.

After Amarnath, one of the toughest Hindu pilgrimages in India is the Kedarnath and Badrinath journey in Uttarakhand. Though the path has improved compared to the past, from Son Prayag to Gauri Kund, the 5 km road is now motorable. Yet, from Gauri Kund, pilgrims must trek 16 km through hilly terrain toreach Kedarnath. Thischallenging route will soon become accessible even for the elderly andspecially-abled pilgrims, and the travel time will be drastically reduced. Currently, reaching Kedarnath from Gauri Kund on foot, horseback, or palanquin takes 8 to 9 hours, but with the ropeway, it will take just 36 minutes.

Recently , Gautam Adani wrote onhis  Xhandle :

“The tough journey to Kedarnath will now become easier. The Adani Group is building this ropeway to make the pilgrimage safe and convenient for devotees. We are proud to be part of this sacred project. May Lord Mahadev bless everyone. Jai Baba Kedarnath!”

He also shared a video on his Xhandle  showcasing how the state-of-the-art ropeway service to Kedarnath will look and operate.
