On the occasion of World Tourism Day, a three-day Magadha conference has been jointlyorganized by India Tourism, Association of Buddhist Tour Operators (ABTO) and other tourism organizations from Friday evening at Pandu Pokhar, a tourist spot in Rajgir. Representatives of 19 states including Bihar, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Orissa, Delhi, Gujarat, UP, and many countries have participated in this program.
The program was inaugurated by Pranab Prakash, Regional Director of Tourism Department, Government of India, Mohan Prasad Sharma, President of Tourism Association of Nepal, Dr. Kaulesh Kumar, Secretary of ABTO, by jointly lighting the lamp.
In his address, Regional Director Pranab Prakash said that the land of Bihar, especially Rajgir and Nalanda, is not only a symbol of Indian history and culture, but also has immense potential for tourism.
Mr. Pranav Prakash, Deputy Director General & Regional Director (East) of the Ministry of Tourism, said that the lands of Nalanda andRajgir have always been a centre of global attraction as World Heritage sites. He highlighted that the historical, cultural, andspiritual legacy of this region not only connects India but also the entire world. Mr. Prakash emphasized that there is immense potential in the tourism sector which needs to be preserved and developed. With joint efforts of the government and localcommunities, this region can become a major hub for employment,research, and cultural exchange. He added that this symposium is not only a means to promote tourism but also an opportunity to highlight the heritage and cultural identity of the region on a global stage.
He said that such seminars will give a new direction to the tourism industry and will help in attracting tourists from home and abroad.
The organizers announced that the symposium will include panel discussions, experience-sharing sessions, and networking events. Participants also visited key tourist sites in Rajgir and Nalanda, while the serene and picturesque environment of Pandu Pokhar captivated all guests.
Tour operators from Nepal and different Indian states shared new plans and experiences to boost local tourism.
On this occasion, President of Nepal Tourism Association, Mr. Mohan Prasad Sharma mentioned the historical and religious relations between India and Nepal and said that this seminar will prove to be an important step in the direction of strengthening the Buddhist circuit.
He expressed the hope that in the coming time, the partnership between the two countries in the tourism sector will deepen. On this occasion, the secretary general of ABTO, Dr.Kaulesh Kumar said that the importance of Rajgir and Magadha region is not only for Buddhism, but it has also been the centre of Jainism, Hinduism and many other cultural traditions. He said that the heritage and natural beauty here is precious to the world. The purpose of this seminar is to bring these opportunities to the fore and make tourism a means of employment and economic empowerment. In this seminar, which will last for three days, detailed sessions will be held on issues related to the tourism industry such as sustainable tourism, eco-tourism, protection of cultural heritage, religious tourism, use of modern technology, and international cooperation.
Experts from home and abroad will share their ideas and suggestions through panel discussions and presentations.

Okanogi of theWorld Peace Stupa, Mohan Prasad Sharma (President, TourismAssociation of Nepal), Dr. Kaulesh Kumar (Secretary, AVTO), Umarav Prasad Nirmal, Deepak Kumar (Manager, Aerial Ropeway),archaeologist Ravi Anand, Praveen Singh, tourism officer Sanjay Kumar, and tourism representatives from 19 Indian states, including Anil Vithha (Bikaner), Himani Arora, Neetu Rani, Vaishali Vaidya, Yogita, Reeta Dhadwate, and Asmita Modi.
