KOLKATA | 4 AUGUST 2025

Visitor Information (as of 31 July 2025, 12.00 Hrs. GMT+7) The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) advises that heightened security measures remain in place across seven provinces along the Thailand–Cambodia border—Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Buri Ram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat—due to ongoing cross-border tensions. Martial law continues to be enforced in designated districts of Chanthaburi and Trat. A ceasefire between Thai and Cambodian forces is currently in effect, though authorities advise continued caution for all parties.

Travellers are strongly advised to avoid all border checkpoints, tourist attractions, national parks, lookout points, and surrounding communities in the affected provinces. Entry and exit through designated checkpoints remain prohibited. Roads near the border should be avoided. All visitors and residents must comply fully with local authorities and military personnel.

nationwide drone ban is in effect from 30 July to 15 August 2025. All unmanned aerial vehicles are prohibited unless operated by authorised agencies. Military personnel may neutralise unauthorised drones without warning. Offenders face legal penalties, including fines and imprisonment.

This advisory will be updated as the situation evolves. Please check back regularly for the latest information.

General Travel Situation in Thailand

Travel elsewhere in Thailand continues unaffected. Domestic and international transport services—including air, rail, bus, and ferry—are operating as normal. Major destinations such as Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Samui, Krabi, Pattaya, and Ayutthaya remain open and continue to welcome visitors. Travellers are encouraged to stay informed and plan accordingly.

Travellers heading toward border areas should verify transport schedules and stay updated on any changes. Thai Airways International (THAI) recently operated adjusted services on its Bangkok–Phnom Penh route, and train operations between Aranyaprathet and the Ban Khlong Luek border station in Sa Kaeo have resumed. Monitoring official channels is strongly recommended.
